There was an Elliott Reunion in Ashland, Ohio in August 1923. the information on this family came from a paper presented by Charles Elliott at this reunion.

The paper states that Thomas married his cousin Margaret Elliott. Margaret's family were some of the Elliott family that were on the ill fated vessel the "Faithful Steward" which sank off the coast of New Jersy - Deleware. Her brother Simon (subject of this section) was the only family to survive. Thomas and Margaret came to the USA in1790, ther voyage took 13 weeks, the first to Washington County, PA and then to Cross Creek Township, Jefferson County, Ohio.

Thomas was called Honest Tommy and was chosen magistrate of the township and was a representative to the Ohio Legislature until his death. The paper reports that Thomas has an older brother, William and a younger brother, Andrew.

There is an interesting paragraph. "The brothers of Thomas - William and Andrew also came to this country and settled in Ohio, but the distance was so great and the roads sobad that the families never became intimately acquainted. These brothers located in Methodist communities anbd became earnest workers in that church. Ther distinguished M.E. minister, Charles Elliott, was a son of one of these brothers."

On page 674 of Hill's History of Coshocton County, Ohio there is a brief biography of William B. Elliott. J. Ross Elliott also gave me information in 1971. He reported that William moved to White Eyes farm in 1852. He taught school in the winter for 15 years and was a carpenter during the summer. For a short time he was a clerk in the S&H Hay store in Canal Lewisville.

The Coshocotn school history has him teaching at the Hill School in White Eyes Township 1857. Parents: John H. ELLIOTT and Mary BOYD.
