National Genealogical Society in Washington, DC (1994) has a Finley file that includes John Finley 1760-1846 and this reports that he was born in Lancaster county, PA and with his father's family moved to Berkley County, VA. About the time of the Revolutionary war he moved to Washington County, PA. reportedly he married Priscilla Hays (1761-1836). Priscilla and John separated and it mentions Jefferson County, Ohio and Knox County, Ill. Although John reports a Lancaster county birth the town of Salisburty is in Somerset County.
