Obituary:
Mrs. Wilhelmina Kaufman Dahl, wife of the late H. D ahl, probably one of the oldest person in South Texas, died at the family home last Saturday evening at 7:10 o'clock following an illness of about one weeks' duration.
Mrs. Dahl was born in Baden, Baden, Germany, Oct. 2, 1842 and conseq uently has reached the ripe old age of 92 years, 10 months and 16 days at the t ime of her death. When about 4 years of age she came to America with her paren ts, who were members of the famous Castro band of immigrants, landing at old In dianola, Texas, in 1846. She grew to womanhood at Yorktown, Texas where she wa s married to Mr. H. Dahl about 68 years ago. For 52 years she has made her hom e on the farm near Tulsita, at the same place in which she died.
She was a l ifelong member of the Lutheran church and lived a devout Christian life.
The f amily was well and favorably known throughout this section for many years, espe cially so will the late Mr. Dahl be remembered by the old-timers for the great interest and part he took in civil War veterans reunions through-out this secti on of the state.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 4: 30 o'clock by Rev. Carrol R. Jones Baptist minster of Sweeney Switch. Intermen t was made in the family burial ground.
Surviving are two children, J. P. Dahl of Kenedy and Mrs. Margaret Dahl Moore of Pettus, one brother, Emil Kaufman of San Antonio; also eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pall bear ers were Neal Causby, Bob Smith, Leroy Roberts, Grady Smith of Pettus, S. D. Co peland of Mineral and P. E. Northrup of San Antonio.
The News joins the many P ettus friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones.

The Kaufman wagon broke down; but the others continued on toward Castorville, and all lost their lived to a band of savage Indians.
