There is only one source for who the FATHER OF CONRAD is. The "1911 Letter" says that the father was Christian Kaiser, which later became Kiser and then the "S" was transformed into"K" making Kiker. The writer of this letter was, 60 year old John Newton Kiker, a great grand son of George Adam Kiker who is beliveved to be the brother to Conrad Keicher, Sr. The writer said that he had a "traditional history" of the family and that Christian was the father of three sons, George, John, and Conrad. He also stated that he was the owner of Christian's bible but was unabe to read the German script. Note: This bible turns out to be the bible of George Adam Kiker and George's name is spelled KEICHER and not Kaiser. There is no listing of the parents of George.
!To date no John has surfaced to be a brother to George or Conrad. As for Christian, the only records to date (2001) that help us with this problem is the 1790 Rowan Co., NC census listing 2 males over 16 and one female, no age. 2nd., a marriage by Pastor Storch of Christian Keicher married Elizabeth Linebarger 12 Mar 1789. 3rd, a deed record of Christian that bought part of Conrad's land when Conrad sold his property in 1797 and moved to Tennessee. There is nothing in these records that indicate that Christian was the father to any named person. SO, THE PROBLEM???? Are these three different Christians or two or maybe the same person? Do we have the father of George and Conrad here? Do we have a brother to George and Conrad here or do we have both, a brother and "the father"? We welcome your communication on this question. Who was our next Keicher ancestor after Conrad?
!By the way, some have placed a birth place for Conrad as being Erlenbach, Wuerttemberg, Germany. This is not a known fact as far as I know. The only clue to date (2001) is the 1870 census of Conrad Keicher, JR who stated that his father was foreign born. From that I feel safe with saying only Germany was his place of birth. There have been Keichers in Erlenbach for several hundred years but we don't want to linit our research to just that location. I am Richard E.
