Served as a volunteer in the War of 1812, enlisting at Rocky Mount, VA about March 12, 1812 and was honorably discharged the last of March 1814. He was granted a land bounty for his service. He left VA in the early 1820s and went to Clay County, KY.

Mary is also known as "Polly". Moses was a soldier in Virginia during the War of 1812.
He volunteered at Rocky Mountain, Franklin County, Virginia, between March 12-16,
1812, and was not called for active duty for 18 months. Moses served as a private under
Captain Julian Magagnos' company of infantry, attached to the 5th Regiment of the
Virginia Militia, commanded by Francis Preston, from September 8, 1813, to March 10,
1814. He was honorably discharged March 10, 1814 at Norfolk, Virginia. Moses
received wages of $52.07 for his six months of service.
In the early 1820's, Moses and his wife, Polly, left Virginia and came to Clay County,
Kentucky. Also coming to Kentucky were his mother, Lightly (Lidda) and one sister,
Nancy King. There is also speculation that he had a sister, Polly, who married Moses
Roberts.
On November 11, 1853, Moses received a land bounty warrant for 80 acres in Breathitt
County, Kentucky, for his services during the war. Moses and Polly lived in three counties
without ever moving. New counties were made and border lines were changed. In 1830,
he is listed in the Clay County, Kentucky, Census. From 1840-1860, he is listed in the
Breathitt County, Kentucky, Census and finally, in 1870 they are in Wolfe County.
Moses lived in Franklin County, Virginia until about 1820 when he came to Clay County,
Kentucky.
Polly filled out a claim for widow pension on Feburary 9, 1872 when she was 78. Moses
put in for a soldier pension in May 10, 1871 at the time he was 88.
Moses lived in three Kentucky counties without moving, as the counties changed their
boundry lines and new counties were formed.
The following is a transcription of a deed between Moses King and Sam Noble:
"This indenture made and entered into this the 15 day of April 1865 between Moses King
and Polly King his wife, of the first party and Samuel Noble of the second Party all of the
county of Wolfe and the state of Kentucky witnesseth: that the party of the first part have
this day for and in Consideration of Four Hundred dollars paid the people thereof is
hereby acknowledged, bargained and sold and with by these presents grant bargain sell
and convey unto the party of the second part a certain tract of land situated lying and
being in the County and state aforesaid and on the waters of Bloodycreek and bounded a
follow tract Beginning at the mouth of a branch of white oak tree on main Bloodycreek
thence up a point of a ridge with a marked line to James Taulbee line thence with a same
line to the mouth of the first right had branch about Martin Baileys House thence and
down Little Bloodycreek with said Baileys fence to the Lower end thence with the creek
to the forks of the said creek thence up main Bloddcreek to the beginning. We the party
of the first part forever warrant and defend the above described [unreadable] of land free
from us our heirs and assigns or any person or persons claiming through or by us to the
said party of the second part all his heirs and assigns."

OBITUARY -
CAMPTON -- Mrs. Myrtle Wireman, 74, widow of Fred Wireman, died Saturday, November 11.
Survivors include four sons, Orvial Wireman of Stanton, Virgil Wireman and John Wireman of Campton; and eight daughters, Ann Spencer and Vernie Roberts of Campton; Bertie Joyce Hollon, Betty Faye Banks, Violet Bailey, Gurthia Mae Combs, Maxie Whitt and Edna Hollon, all of Middletown. Fifty-two grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 13, at the Tar Ridge First Church of God. Burial was in the Holland Cemetery. Parents: Alley Manzer KING and Surilda TRENT.
