placed under his mother's tutelage. She had to govern,
and her lan d had only recently been reconquered from the Moors and only as far as the Mond ego. In 1116 Teresa fought her half-sister and queen, Urraca, perhaps hoping to at least expand the land
that would descend to her son. She fought again i n
1120, and in 1121 she was besieged and captured at Lanhoso. A couple of arc hbishops came and negotiated a peace. The terms were that Teresa would go free and hold the county of Portugal as a fief of
Leon. In the next five years sh e gave wealth and
titles to her lover, Fernando Peres, count of Trava, which estranged her other son, who was the archbishop of Braga, and the nobles, who were mostly foreign crusaders. She tried once more
to do battle and was crushe d again. By 1128 her nobles were fed up. Alfonso was named sole ruler; he defe ated her troops near Guimaraes and took her prisoner. She was deposed by her su bjects and

Charles J. Terrell, 71, Lawton resident since 1935, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the family home 1014 H, after a brief illness. Mr. Terrell was born in Illinois Jan. 17, 1869, later moving to Kaufman county, Texas, where on Jan. 26 1893, he married Miss Alice Ellen Luttrell. The family moved to Lawton from Rush Springs in 1935, residing here since. In 1894 he united with the Church of Christ and was a member of the local church at the time of his death. Survivors, besides his widow, are three daughters, Mrs. Walter Hood, Lawton, Mrs. Annie Wright, Wichita Falls, and Mrs. Leona Warheim, Washington, two sons, Charles and J. L. both of Inglewood, Cal.; Mrs. C. H. Shook, a cousin who has been in the home since childhood, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, also three brothers and three sisters and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ, with the pastor, Rev. Gray Carter, officiating. Burial in Highland cemetery will be directed by Ritter's. Terrell Rites were pending here today for Jerry Boyd Terrell, 69, retired Lawton farmer and laborer, who died unexpectedly at 9 a.m. Monday while visiting in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Nora Burch at Edinburg, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Terrell had arrived Sunday night to spend the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Burch and her family. Mr. Terrell had not been ill. Born March 2, 1877, in Texas, Mr. Terrell came to Oklahoma from his native state as a young man, settling on a farm in Comanche county. The family moved to Lawton eight years ago, residing at 1408 S. Eighth. Mr. Terrell was a member of the local Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife, Naomi, include seven children, Theodore Terrell, 2512 B.; Mrs. E.G. West, Alma, Ark.; Mrs. Burch; Jerry Boyd Terrell, Corpus Christi Texas; Mrs. Stella Howell, and Robert Nelson Terrell, Hackett, Ark. and John Terrell, 1711 A. 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
