In the Spring 1994 issue of the Wayne County Ancestors there is a story about Deviltown on page 5. Deviltown is located on the Mechanicsburg Road NW of Wooster and it started under the name "Tannerville" because there was a tannery there. The tannery workers were a wild bunch and after consumming whiskey they really got rough so the area was called Deviltown. David Thompson is listed as a mill owner in the article along with several other people.

Jan. 1, 1820 David Thompson bought Wooster, Oh lot #62 for $572.00. In his will he listed property as farms;

Newspaper notice ---The Wayne County Democrat Wednseday, March 17, 1880.
The venerable David Thomson, father-in-law of Wm. C. Downing, Esq. of Wooster, died suddenly last Sunday morning at his home two miles south-west of Wooster. He kept house with his son, by whom he was found dead in bed when calling him for breakfast, he having, evidently peacefully passed away in his 86th year. An appropriate obituary will duly appear.

He is buried in Section #9; lot #417 with permit # 277 in the Wooster Cemetery - March 14, 1880. Section 9 is a large oval near the back down along the Timken Road.
