OBITUARY:
Arthur C. Winner, 65, The retired Superintendent of the Streets Department for the city of Alma, of 520 Hannah in Alma, died on January 20, 1971, at St. Luked Hospital in Saginaw. He retired in July 1970. Born on April 10, 1905, in Defiance, Ohio, he was the son of George and Mary Shock Winner. In Lansing on July 3, 1924, he was united in marriage with Julia Bundy, who survives him. A son, Paul Winner, resided in Traverse City. There are two grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Raymond of California, Edward of Lake Odessa, Ernest of Laingsburg and Earl of Pearl Beach; and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Lobsinger of Sumner. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, from the Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma with Rev. George Elliott of the Alma Methodist Church officiating.

Georges obit says he wa 72 yrs. old. Mary's obit says he died in September of 1946, so he was going on 73 yrs old. If he had lived till the following Tuesday, they would have been married 50 years. Assume they married 1896.
Edna says George and Mary Catherine raised 2 that were not their children. One was their granddaughter, Thelma Nota Schutt. The other was Earl E. Winner, the son of George's sister. She was mentally off and the husband could not raise the son. George and Mary had him at birth. He took the Winner name. Thelma and earl are still alive (1-23-097)
