      Michael Allen Crosby was also known as Dr Michael Allen "Mike" Crosby.2 He was born on 19 November 1950 at Windsor, Sandwich South, Essex, Ontario, Canada.1 He was the son of Wiliam James Crosby and Lucy Mary Tout.1 Michael Allen Crosby died on 30 May 1991 at Sylvania, Ohio, United States of America, at age 40.1 He was buried at Victoria Memorial Gardens, Essex, Ontario, Canada; and findagrave.com contains the following obituary 'Professor Michael A. Crosby (Uncle Mike) died much too young at the age of 40. He was teacher of the year at Purdue University and later an extremely popular instructor at the University of Toledo. He was loved by his family and like a big brother to me. Although he tried many times, he was unsuccessful at defeating me in the NCAA Tournament Pool.      George Alfred Cohen was born on 25 March 1874 at London, England; and his birth was registered in the December quarter 1874 at Poplar Registration district.4,5,3,6,7 He was the son of Alfred Louis Cohen (1836-1903) and Louise Marie Sophie Javal (1847-1902).4 He appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at 106 Westbourne Terrace, Paddington, London, England, as Son, age 7, birthplace London, Middlesex.8 He was listed in The Post Office London Directory, [Part 4: Trades & Professional Directory] in the Brokers Stock and Share section as 'Cohen, George Alfred (Cohen, Cazenove & Co)' in 1899.9 He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 36 Gloucester Square, Hyde Park, London, England, as Son, single, age 27, birthplace Paddington, London, and he was living on his own means.10 He was 'on his father's death to take over his father's seat in The Great Synagogue and he was the sixth and final Cohen to occupy the seat.11'

He married Gertrude Hannah Myer, daughter of Grenville David Myer and Rachel Matilda Simmons, on 15 October 1905 at Bayswater Synagogue, London, England; and their marriage was registered in the December quarter 1905 at Paddington Registration district, London; their marriage was announced in the Jewish Chronicle of 17 November 1905 and described as 'fully choral.1,12,13,14' George Alfred Cohen lived between 1910 and 1915 at 71 Portland Place, Marylebone, London, England.15,16,17 He appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at 71 Portland Place, St Marylebone, London, England, as Head, married 1905, age 37, birthplace Paddington, and he had Private Means. The household also contained his Wife, 3 daughters and 10 servants.18 He was listed in the British Army World War I Pension Records Short Service (For the Duration of the War) as age 42 on enlistment, of 71 Portland Place, London, and was of 'Private Means'. He was recruited to the Army Service Corps (Mechanical Transport) as a Driver, Regimental number 281343, stamped at Whitehall, London, on 1 January 1917. The National Archives contain his Medal Card.19,20,21 He was recorded on a list of United Kingdom Incoming Passengers to London arriving on 4 April 1927, on the Nippon Yusen Kaisha Line Hakusan Maru having embarked at Marseilles, France. His 'Country of Last Residence' was France and he was a 53 year old Merchant, whose 'Proposed Address in the United Kingdom' was 71 Portland Place, London.22

He was executor to his wife and the 1935 National Probate Calendar records:

'Cohen Gertrude Hannah of 3 Hyde Park-gardens Hyde Park Middlesex (wife of George Alfred Cohen) died 11 August 1935 at Hurst Farm Wittersham Kent Probate London 17 October to the said George Alfred Cohen of no occupation' on 17 October 1935.23 He lived on 29 September 1939 at Hurst Farm, Tenterden, Kent, England; where he was on the 1939 Register.24 He lived on 3 September 1941 at Avenue Road, St John's Wood, London, England; at the time of the announcement of the birth of twin grandsons to his daughter Mrs Lucy Meg Falk.25 He died on 21 February 1942 at London, England, at age 67; and his death was recorded in the March quarter 1942 at Westminster Registration district.2,26,27 He left a will on 31 July 1942; and the following notice appeared in The London Gazette Issue 35652 published on the 31 July 1942:

' Re GEORGE ALFRED COHEN Deceased Pursuant to the Trustee Act, 1925. NOTICE is hereby given that all persons having any claims against the estate of George Alfred Cohen, of Flat 45, Grosvenor House, Park Lane, W.1., and of Hurst Farm, Wittersham, Kent, who died on the 21st day of February, 1942 are hereby required to send particulars thereof in writing to the Westminster Bank Ltd. Trustee Department, Chief Office at Priory Mansions, Bath Road, Bournemouth, Hants, the executor of the Will of the said George Alfred Cohen or to the undersigned the Solicitors to the executor on or before the 12th day of October 1942 after which date the executor will proceed to distribute the said estate having regard only to the claims then notified.-Dated this 20th day of July, 1942 MONTAGU'S and COX and CARDALL, 86-88, Queen Victoria Street, E.C.4, Solicitors for the Executor (124).28,29,30'
