     Elias Lindo was born in 1796 at St Christopher, West Indies; and he was the eldest son of David A Lindo.1,2,3,4 He married Susannah Lyon on 27 July 1825 at Bevis Marks, London, England; and an announcement was placed in The Times of 30 July 1825; they had David and Grace or Sarah, David, Solomon and Joseph.1,3,5 Elias Lindo appeared on the census of 7 April 1861 at 40 Kildare Terrace, Paddington, London, England, as Head, married, age 65, birthplace St Christopher, West Indies, and he had 'No occupation.2' He died in 1875; and his death was registered in the June quarter 1875 at Kensington Registration district, London, at age 79.1,6

     Ellis James Castello M.C., T.D. was born on 20 September 1897 at London, England; and his birth was recorded in the September quarter 1897 at Paddington Registration district.5,6,7 He was the son of James Castello (1863-1928) and Edith Sarah Franklin (1866-1907).1 He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 46 Queens Gardens, Paddington, London, England, as Son, age 3, born Paddington, London.8 He appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at 23 Oxford Square, Hyde Park, London, England, as Son, age 13, birthplace Paddington, and he was at School.9

He was educated; 'at Clifton and Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Served in both World Wars'.1

He was awarded medal(s) for service in the Army during the Great War [WWI] and The National Archives contain the following World War I Campaign Medal Card:

He appeared in The London Gazette Issue 30901 published on the 13 September 1918' which recorded the following Military Cross citation:     
     
     '2nd Lt. Ellis James Castello, R.F.A.
     For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. With the enemy at close quarters on his flank and in rear, he worked all day in the open on communications under constant machine-gun and rifle fire. He restored and maintained communications that were frequently broken, and when the enemy was around the battery positions his energy and fearlessness inspired all ranks.11,12'

He was a Chartered Accountant after 1925.1 He was executor of his father's will, which was proved on 1st September 1928. The following notice appeared in The London Gazette Issue 33425 published on the 28 September 1928:

     'Re JAMES CASTELLO, Deceased.
     Pursuant to the Trustee Act, 1925.
     NOTICE is hereby given, that all creditors and other persons having any debts, claims or demands against the estate of James Castello, late of 23, Oxford-square, Hyde Park, in the county of London, Esquire, deceased (who died on the 18th day of July 1928, and whose will was proved in the Principal Probate Registry on the first day of September, 1928, by Sarah Castello, Ellis James Castello and Leon Benham Castello, the executors therein named), are .hereby required to send in the particulars of their debts, claims or demands to us, the undersigned, the Solicitors for the said executors, on or before the 30th day of November, 1928, after which date the said executors will proceed to distribute the assets of the said deceased amongst the persons entitled thereto, haying (regard only to the claims and demands of which they shall then have had notice; and they will not be liable for the assets of the said deceased, or any part thereof, so distributed, to any person or persons of whose debts, claims or demands they shall not then have had notice.— Dated this 24th day of September, 1928.

Cohen, of 71, Portland-place, W.1.14' Ellis James Castello M.C., T.D. married Elizabeth Marjorie Cohen, daughter of George Alfred Cohen and Gertrude Hannah Myer, on 5 June 1930 at Central Synagogue, Great Portland Street, Westminster, London, England; and their marriage was recorded in the June quarter 1930 at London City Registration district.15,1,16,17,18

Ellis James Castello M.C., T.D. has a Special Operations Executive personnel file held at The National Archives from his service during the Second World War 'with photograph.19' He was executor to his stepmother Sarah Franklin and the 1947 National Probate Calendar records that Sarah Castello was 'of The House in the Field Wendover Buckinghamshire widow' and Probate was granted on 23 January 1947 in London 'to Ellis James Castello M.C. major H.M. army and Iris Sarah Langdon (wife of Geoffrey Harry Langdon)'.20

He was listed after World War II in The London Gazette Issue 38105 published on the 21 October 1947 as follows:
