     Alfred Edwin Stowell was born on 10 July 1920 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.^1,2 He was the son of Albert George Stowell and Amy Burrell.¹ Alfred Edwin Stowell married Esther Rita Elizabeth Berry on 31 August 1940 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.^1,3 Alfred Edwin Stowell lived in August 1941 at 178 Brougham Street, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand; and was recorded on a New Zealand, World War II Ballot List as a motor-body builder.⁴ He lived at 55 Battersby Street, Sydenham, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand; where he was recorded on the 1943 New Zealand Army WWII Nominal Rolls as Corporal, Army number. 236827, occupation motor-body builder.⁵

He and Esther Rita Elizabeth Berry lived in 1969 at 7 Beatty Crescent, Ash, Canterbury, New Zealand; where they were on the Electoral Roll with their son David John Stowell.⁶ Alfred Edwin Stowell died on 10 March 1997 at Ashburton, Canterbury, New Zealand, at age 76.^7,8 He was cremated at Ashburton Cemetery, Ashburton, Canterbury, New Zealand, and he was a motor-body builder.^8,9 His estate was probated; and he was described as being a Company Director of Christchurch.¹⁰

     Maurice Leonard Archer was born on 19 May 1911 at New Zealand; and his birth was recorded in New Zealand as son of Mildred and Leonard Archer.² He married Elna Margaret Stowell, daughter of Albert George Stowell and Amy Burrell, on 21 November 1936 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand; and their marriage was recorded in New Zealand as Elna Margaret Stowell and Maurice Leonard Archer.^1,3 Maurice Leonard Archer died in 1988 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.^1,2

     Russell Allan Stowell was born on 17 October 1925 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.^1,2 He was the son of Albert George Stowell and Amy Burrell.¹ Russell Allan Stowell lived on 28 June 1944 at 41 King Street, Sydenham, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand; where he was listed on the New Zealand, World War II Ballot Lists, 1940-1945, as a storeman-packer.³ He married Margaret Ellen Lye on 15 September 1949 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.¹ Russell Allan Stowell and Margaret Ellen Lye were separated in 1984.¹ Russell Allan Stowell died on 30 November 1991 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, at age 66.^2,4 He was buried on 3 December 1991 at Marlborough, Nelson, New Zealand.⁵

     Margaret Ellen Lye was born on 8 February 1927 at New Zealand.^2,3 She lived in 1949 at 15 Perth Street, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.⁴ As of 15 September 1949, her married name was Stowell.¹ She married Russell Allan Stowell, son of Albert George Stowell and Amy Burrell, on 15 September 1949 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.¹ Margaret Ellen Lye and Russell Allan Stowell were separated in 1984.¹ As of September 1990, her married name was Croucher.² Margaret Ellen Lye was married to Boyd Andrew Croucher in September 1990 at New Zealand.² She died on 23 September 2009 at New Zealand at age 82.^3,5 She was buried at Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Tasman District, Tasman, New Zealand.³

     William McCammon was born circa 1914 at New Zealand. He married Roma Louisa Stowell, daughter of Albert George Stowell and Amy Burrell, on 1 March 1941 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.¹

     Lily Stowell was born on 20 August 1904 at St Andrews, Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand.^1,2 She was the daughter of Frank Stowell and Laura Georgina Helnor Graham.¹ Lily Stowell married Frederick John Black on 18 January 1958 at New Zealand.¹ Lily Stowell was buried on 2 March 1978 at Timaru Cemetery, Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand; and she was buried with her husband; there is a photograph of their gravestone at Timaru District Council Online.³ She died on 2 March 1978 at Halley Terrace, Temuka, Canterbury, New Zealand, at age 73.³ Her estate was probated; and she was described as being of Temuka.⁴

     Owen Hillier Hone was baptized on 21 June 1891 at Holy Trinity, West End, Chobham, Surrey, England; and his birth was registered in the Chertsey registration district in the June quarter 1891.^1,2,3 He was the son of Hillier John Hone and Emily Daborn.¹ Owen Hillier Hone appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Chobham, Surrey, England, as Son, age 10, birthplace Chobham, Surrey.¹ He appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at Chobham, Surrey, England, as son, age 19, single, birthplace Chobham, Surrey.⁴ He married Margaret Elizabeth Kate Gosden on 9 August 1921 at Holy Trinity, West End, Chobham, Surrey, England; and their marriage was recorded at Chertsey Registration office in the September quarter 1921.^5,6 Owen Hillier Hone died on 20 April 1966 at Strathyre, Bagshot Road, Knaphill, Surrey, England, at age 74; and his death was recorded at Surrey North Western Registration office in the June quarter 1966.^7,8

Peronne town was occupied by British troops on the 18th March 1917, lost on the 23rd March 1918, and regained on the 1st September 1918.

'The 34th Casualty Clearing Station was at La Chapelette in April-July 1917; the 55th for a short time in April, and the 48th in May; the Lucknow from May 1917, to March 1918; the 53rd and the 12th for short periods in September 1918. In the spring of 1918 the Germans made eleven burials in the two cemeteries; three Italian graves of this period have been removed.

'There are now 577, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site, 6 of which are unidentified.

'The cemetery covers an area of 2,937 square metres and is enclosed by a low rubble wall.⁵'
