     James Ernest Shepherd was born on 19 January 1882 at London, England; and his birth was recorded at Greenwich Registration district in the March quarter 1882.^3,4 He was baptized on 31 October 1883 at St Paul, Greenwich, London, England; as the son of Alfred John Shepherd, Carman, and Mary Ann Shepherd of 105 Royal Hill.
