His parents and two siblings completed the household.6 He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Cheam, Surrey, England, as Son, age 22, birthplace Hempstead, Hertfordshire, and he worked as a Potter, like his father. His parents, four siblings, a niece and a boarder completed the household.7 He married Annie Burkin, daughter of William Burkin and Ann Priscilla Philbrook, on 2 November 1902 at St Dunstan, Cheam, Surrey, England; and their marriage, after Banns were read, was recorded at Epsom Registration district in the December quarter 1902. The historical information on Harlebeke New British Cemetery by The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records: '...Harlebeke New British Cemetery was made after the Armistice when graves were brought in from the surrounding battlefields of 1918 and, in 1924-25, from German cemeteries or plots in Belgium. The earlier concentrations are in Plots I and X, and the later in Plots I, II and XI to XIX.
