He died on 23 February 1942 at age 20; in the Second Wordl War and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission give the following information :- Stotter, Sgt. Alan John 984799 R.A.F (V.R.) 48 Sqdn 23 February 1942. Age 20. Son Arthur James Stotter and Eleanor Mary Stotter of Llanishen, Glamorgan.

'He was killed whilst flying in Hudson V, AM869 'F' ...'; the 'aircraft failed to return from an operational flight off the coast of Norway'.4,5,6,7,2,8,9

His estate was probated on 3 October 1944; and he was of 5 Clifton Road, Llandudno, Carnarvonshire, Wales.6 He was commemorated on Panel 94 at Runnymead Memorial, Cooper's Hill Lane, Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey, England.4
