     Henry Jones was born circa 1806 at Middlesex, England.1,3 He was the son of Hart Jones and Rachel Miriam Abraham.1 Henry Jones appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 at Pall Mall, St James, Westminster, London, England, probably as 'H. Jones' age 35, born in the county, and he was with his cousin Henry Jones [#5136], a Dentist, but no occupation has been entered against his name.3

     Henry Charles Levander was born circa 1826 at Norwich, Norfolk, England.3,4 He was the son of James Levander and Julia Jones.3 Henry Charles Levander appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 at 11 Bicton Place, Littleham, Devon, England, as age 15 and he was not born in the county.5 He was educated at Oxford University and his entry in Oxford University Alumni, 1500-1886 reads as follows: 'Levander. Rev. Henry Charles, IS. James, of Norwich (city) gent. Pembroke College, matric 12 March, 1846, aged 19; B.A. 1850, M.A. 1863, a master of University College School, London 1866-84. Died 4 Dec., 1884.6'

He was named in two newspapers on 11 May 1850: Daily News (London, England), when he was listed as being conferred with a Masters Degree and being of Pembroke College, Oxford University, with the same notice in The Morning Chronicle (London, England). On 5 June 1850 the Daily News (London, England) published that he was an Exhibitioner at Pembroke College, Second Class, this was published also in The Morning Chronicle (London, England) and was also carried in Trewman's Exeter Flying Post or Plymouth and Cornish Advertiser (Exeter, England), on 13 June 1850.7,8,9,10,11 He was listed in Devizes, Wiltshire, in the 1859 Post Office Directory of Wiltshire as follows: 'Private Residents: Levander, Henry Charles, BA' and 'Levander, Henry Charles, BA, proprietary grammar school.12'

He had a letter to the Editor published in The Times titled 'The Satellites of Jupiter' concerning the aurora borealis of the last Thursday when he says that he and two of his pupils saw two satellites of Jupiter with their own eyes lasting around 5 minutes. He checked he was not mistaken with his telescope etc. Unrecorded in the paper, he wished to know if any readers thought this was caused by 'any peculiarity in the state of the atmosphere connected with the aurora borealis'. Signed H.C. Levander, B.A., Proprietary Grammar School, Devizes on 27 April 1859.13 He was listed in Gillman's Devizes Public Register, Business Directory & Almanack in 1861as follows:

     'New Park Street: 39 Devises Grammar School. — Master, Mr H. C. Levander.14'

He appeared on the census of 7 April 1861 at Grammar School, 38 Newport Street, Devizes, Wiltshire, England, as Henry Lavander, Head, unmarried, age 34, birthplace Norwich, Norfolk, and he was Head Master of The Grammar School. His widowed Mother Julia also lived at the school. Several students and two Servants completed the household.15 He had a Master of Arts conferred on him from Oxford University and announced in The Times the following day on 14 January 1863.16 He was executor of his Mother's Letters of Administration 26 April 1865 when he was 'Assistant Master of the Grammar School Clapham' at 111 Manor Street, Clapham, Surrey, England.17 He appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at 376 Wandsworth Road, Clapham, London, England, as Head, unmarried, age 44, birthplace Norwich, Norfolk, and he was Classical Master at University College. There were two Visitors in the Household who were both Students and two Domestic Servants who were a Housekeeper and a Housemaid.18

He was listed as standing for election to the Freemasons, United Grand Lodge, Board of General Purposes, as a Past Master which resulted in the folowing: Lodge 623, Votes 218, according to a report in The Era (London, England) on 8 June 1879.19 He appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at 30 North Villas, St Pancras, London, England, as Head, unmarried, age 54, birthplace Norwich, Norfolk, and he was a Tutor. The full entry reads:

He was listed in the 1882 Post Office London Directory as follows:- 'Levander Henry Charles, M.A., F.R.A.S., 30 North villas, Camden square, NW' and he shared the premises with his brother Frederick Wiliam Levander.21

He died on 4 December 1884 at London, England; and his death, at age 58, was registered in the December quarter 1884 at 'Pancras' Registration district. His name also appeared in 'Notes and Queries' of that year.22,23,24,25 He was buried on 6 December 1884 at Hampstead Cemetery, Hampstead, London, England.26 His estate was probated; and The 1885 National Probate Calander records:

'The Will of Henry Charles Levander late of 30 North-villas Camden Square in the County of Middlesex Gentleman who died 4 December 1884 at 30 North-villas was proved at the Principal Registry by Frederick William Levander of 30 North-villas Gentleman the Brother the Executor.'

and regarding his estate the following notice appeared in the London Gazette Issue 25448 published on the 3 March 1885:

     'HENRY CHARLES LEVANDER, Deceased. Pursuant to the Statute 22 and 23 Vic., chap. 35, intituled " An Act to further amend the Law of Property, and to relieve Trustees." NOTICE is hereby given, that all persons having any claims or demands against the estate of Henry Charles Levander, late of 30, North-villas, Camden-square, in the county of Middlesex, Gentleman (who died on the 4th of December, 1884, and whose will was, on the 30th of January, 1885, proved in the Principal Registry of the Probate Division of the High Court of Justice by Frederick William Levander*, the executor therein named), are required to send in the particulars of their claims and demands to the said Frederick William Levander, at 30, North-villas, Camden-square aforesaid, on or before the 11th day of April next, at the expiration of which time the said executor will proceed to distribute the assets of the said testator in accordance with the provisions of the said will, having regard only to the claims of which he shall then have had notice; and that the said executor will not be liable for the assets of the deceased, or any part thereof, so distributed to any person of whose debt or claim he shall not then have had notice.—Dated the 27th day of February, 1885.      Isaiah Levy was born circa 1788; and his parents were Solomon and Phebe Levy.1,3,4 He married Catherine Jones, daughter of Hart Jones and Rachel Miriam Abraham, circa 1815 at England.1,5 Isaiah Levy was listed in Pigot & Co.'s National Commercial Directory 1828-29 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire under 'Watchmakers' as: 'Levy Isaiah (& Jeweller) Lord st.1,2,6,5' He was listed in Pigot & Co's. National Commercial Directory, comprising a classification of the merchants, bankers, professional gentlemen, manufacturers and traders ... in the counties of Derby, Hereford, Leicester, Lincoln, Monmouth, Nottingham, Rutland, Salop, Stafford, Warwick and Worcester; and also ... Wales. [1835] under Watchmakers as 'Levy Josiah (& jeweller), Lord st.' and under Miscellaneous as 'Levy Isaiah, dealer in piano-fortes, Lord st.7' He was baptized on 14 February 1840 at All Saints, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England; as Isaiah Lee Levy and his parents were Solomon and Phebe Levy. He lived at Gainsbro', where he was a Silver Smith.4 He was listed in Pigot & Co's. Royal National Commerical Directory and Topography of the counties of York, Leicester & Rutland, Lincoln, Northampton and Nottingham 1841, in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire under Watch and Clockmakers as 'Levy Isaiah Lee, Silver st.8' As of 1841, Isaiah Levy was also known as Isaiah Lee Levy.8 He appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 at Silver Street, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England, as Isaiah Levy, Male, age unreadable and transcribed as 31 [41?], not born in the county and he was a Watch Manufacturer. Four Daughters and a Son completed the household.9 As of before 1847, Isaiah Levy was also known as Isaiah Lee.10 He died on 11 October 1847 at London, England; and his death was recorded at Marylebone Registration district in the December quarter 1847.10,11 He was buried on 16 October 1847 at All Souls, Kensal Green, London, England; and recorded as Isaiah Lee, age 59, of 41 Rathbone Place, Marylebone.3

      Judah Hynes was also known as John Hynes.3,4 He was born circa 1792 at Exeter, Devon, England.1,5 He was an Optician in Exeter, Devon, who moved to King's Lynn, Norfolk.1,6 He married Elizabeth Jones, daughter of Hart Jones and Rachel Miriam Abraham, circa 1826.1 Judah Hynes was included in the following reference: 'A [Jewish] burial-ground was acquired in 1830, the community being represented by Hart Jones, silversmith: Daniel de Pass, clothier: Judah Hynes, optician: and Isaac Sampson, tobacconist. It is situated in Millfleet, [King's Lynn] and contains fourteen visible stones, some of which seem to go back to the period before the actual purchase of the ground, when it was presumably held on lease.7' He was was probably referred to in the following entry in Pigot's Directory of Norfolk, 1839:

     'Lyn Regis, &c. Opticians. Hynes John, High st.3'
     
He appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 at High Street, King's Lynn, Norfolk, England, as age 45, not born in the county, and he was an Optician. Also recorded were Elizabeth 40, Rebecca 14, Martha 12, William 10, Rachel 7, Caroline 6, Henry 5, Jane 3 and Catherine 35; all born in Norfolk, except Catherine (sister of Judah Hynes, who married Mr Jacobs 'a brother of David Jacobs').8,9,10 He appeared on the census of 7 April 1861 at 17 Clifton Street, Shoreditch, London, England, as John Hynes, Head, married, age 68, birthplace Exeter, Devon, and his Occupation was an Optician. His Wife, Daughter's Annie, Ellen, and Mrs Martha Cummins and his Grandson Harry J Cummins completed the household.4 He appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at Commercial Road, Exeter, Devon, England, as Head, married, age 78, birthplace Bideford, Devon, and for his occupation was given 'Rag Stores.11' He appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at 89 Haberdasher Street, Shoreditch, London, England, as Head, widowed, age 89, birthplace Exeter, Devon, and no occupation was given. The household also contained his Daughter Annie 'age 40', and Ellen Hynes Daughter 'age 30'.5

He died between July 1881 and September 1881 at London, England; and his death was recorded in the September quarter 1881 at Shoreditch Registration district, at age 89.12

     Edward Granger was baptized on 29 April 1825 at Stretham, Cambridgeshire, England.3,2,4 He was the son of Edward Granger and Rebecca Weddelow.2,3 Edward Granger appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 at Stretham, Cambridgeshire, England, as age 15, birthplace Cambridgeshire, with John, occupation Farmer, Joseph and Sarah Granger.5 He married Adelaide Fellowes Jones, daughter of John Jones and Mary Ann Watson, in 1850 at Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England; and their marriage was recorded in the December quarter 1850 at Cambridge Registration district.6,7 Edward Granger appeared on the census of 30 March 1851 at Pratt Street, Soham, Cambridgeshire, England, as Head, married, age 25, birthplace Stretham (transcribed as Hutham Esardy), Cambridgeshire, and he was 'Farming 300 Acres Employing 11 men and 4 boys'.       Rebecca Weddelow was also known as Rebekah Waddelow.3 Her married name was Granger.3 She was born circa 1787; in Cambridgeshire and she was the Daughter of John and Mary Waddelow.2,4 She married Edward Granger circa 1812; and they are believed to have had at least six children, with Edward probably being one of the youngest.3 Rebecca Weddelow appeared on the census of 30 March 1851 at Pratt Street, Soham, Cambridgeshire, England, as Mother, widowed, age 63, birthplace (transcribed as 'St Cats Wettheny'), Cambridgeshire, and she was an Annuitant living with her son Edward and her daughter-in-law Adelaide.2 She died in 1870 at Cambridgeshire, England; and her death was recorded at Ely Registration district in the December quarter 1870, at age 83.5

      Her married name was Watt.3 Elizabeth Liddle Bowie also went by the name of Lizzie Bowie.2 She was baptized on 8 April 1881 at Linlithgow Burgh, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland; and her birth was recorded at Linlithgow Burgh, Linlithgowshire.2,1,4 She was the daughter of Robert Bowie and Agnes Campbell Bryce.2 Elizabeth Liddle Bowie appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at 87 High Street, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland, as Daughter, age 9, birthplace Linithgow, Linlithgowshire, and she was a Scholar.2 She appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 87 High Street, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland, as Daughter, age 19, birthplace Linlithgow, Linlithgowshire.5 She married William Watt circa 1910.3 Elizabeth Liddle Bowie died before 27 January 1960 at Lancashire, England; and her death was recorded at Oldham registration office in the March quarter 1960.6,7 She was buried on 27 January 1960 at Royton Cemetery, Royton, Lancashire, England; and was recorded as Elizabeth Liddell Watt.8,7

     James Hayward was christened on 4 June 1780 at Horsell, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of John Hayward.1 James Hayward married Mary Turner, daughter of James Turner and Hannah Climps, on 17 April 1806 at Horsell, Surrey, England.1 James Hayward died on 11 February 1845 at age 64.2
