Brighton, Ontario, Canada

Brighton, Ontario, population 10,000, is located in Northumberland County on the north shore of Lake Ontario, about an hour east of Toronto. First settled in 1796, Brighton was at one time a major apple-growing community. Today it is known for its sandy beaches and excellent fishing. Birdwatching is a favourite pastime in nearby Presqu'ile Park, which is a major stop over point for migratory birds.
