FROM THE "EDITOR"
Greetings,
Well, as you can plainly see, I am finally delivering on my threat to pretend I am professional. As we go to press with the 96 3M I am attempting to master all this new hi-tech stuff. At this point I do not know if I will even have any news to report. For that matter, I do not even know who will be our president. I am just waiting to celebrate "Patty's day" '96!

MORAN

The past two issues have dealt with the various branches of the Moran family from 1786 to approximately 1920. However, because of the mere size of the Dunn clan and the amount of news they generated, much of the Dunn family news was not reported. The following few pages conclude all news of the Peter & Elizabeth Moran family found from 1902 to 1913.

Peter's daughter Judith was born 1865 and married Thomas O'Malley 1893. One of their four known children died shortly after birth:

"BORN - O'MALLEY - AT ST JOACHIM ON 31ST MARCH 1902, THE WIFE OF T S O'MALLEY, OF A DAUGHTER ... [THE DAUGHTER] MARY DIED SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING A PRIVATE BAPTISM...SWEET LITTLE CHERUB LIGHTED HERE, STAYED ONE SHORT HOUR ...THEN DISAPPEARED, A FLOWER LENT... BUT NOT GIVEN, TO FADE FROM EARTH AND BLOOM IN HEAVEN." 4 APR'02

Peter and Elizabeth had two daughters who became nuns: Mary B, born 1861, and Liza A, born 1875. "Lizzie" was a source of confusion for this writer as her next oldest sister was Anne Elizabeth, born 1872. They all taught school. The following two items pertain to the celebration which took place at the Dunn home after Liza took her final vows.

"ST JOACHIM - A VERY INTERESTING FAMILY REUNION TOOK PLACE AT THE HOME OF MR AND MRS PETER DUNN, ON TUESDAY, THE 29TH OF JULY LAST, THE OCCASION BEING THE VISIT OF THEIR ELDEST DAUGHTER MARY, IN RELIGION "SISTER OF THE TRINITY;" AND THEIR FIFTH DAUGHTER LIZZIE, IN RELIGION, "SISTER MARY WINNIFRED." OTHER MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY FROM WINDSOR AND MAGOG BEING ALSO PRESENT. SISTER TRINITY MADE HER PROFESSION SIXTEEN YEARS AGO, AND HER GREAT CAPACITY AND TACT AS A TEACHER AND WORKER SOON BROUGHT HER CARES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE ORDER. SHE HAS BEEN DIRECTRESS AT BERLIN FOR TEN YEARS, FULFILLED THE SAME POSITION AT HOLYOKE FOR ONE YEAR, AT COATICOOK FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS, AND IT MAY BE SAID THAT SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED HER DUTIES AT ALL TIMES WITH GREAT CREDIT AND WITH THE UTMOST MEASURE OF SUCCESS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SISTER TRINITY HAS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT THE HOMESTEAD, AND THE SCENES OF HER CHILDHOOD, AND EARLY YOUTH. SISTER MARY WINNIFRED, AFTER A NOVITIATE OF THREE YEARS MADE HER PROFESSION AT ST HYACINTHE ON TUESDAY, JULY 22ND, 1902. THE CEREMONY WAS PERFORMED BY MSGR DECELIES, BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE. HER SPONSOR WAS MISS ALICE MAGUIRE, OF WATERLOO, QUE. IT IS NOT TOO MUCH TO ANTICIPATE THAT SISTER MARY WINNIFRED WILL FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HER ELDER SISTER, AND BECOME ONE OF THE FORMOST WORKERS IN THE ORDER OF THE PRESENTATION.

RELATIVES AND FRIENDS IN GREAT NUMBERS CALLED ON SISTER TRINITY AND SISTER MARY WINNIFRED, DURING THEIR SHORT VISIT TO THEIR PARENTS, AND WERE WARMLY GREETED AND SPENT A FEW PLEASANT HOURS TALKING OVER OLD TIMES AND THE YEARS THAT HAVE SO SWIFTLY ROLLED BY. THE HAPPY REUNION CAME TO A CLOSE ON THURSDAY, JULY 31ST, THE TWO SISTERS RETURNING TO THE MOTHER HOUSE AT ST HYACINTHE TO PREPARE FOR THE TAKING UP OF THEIR RESPECTIVE DUTIES AGAIN ON THE FIRST OF SEPTEMBER, WHEN THE FALL TERM BEGINS." 8AUG'02

From the earliest press reports available in the 1850s, it has been clear that the Mahedys, Morans, and Dunns consistently dedicated their lives to the education of the young. In pursuing her career, Annie was able to travel to the far west and visit her mother's sister, Mary Kelpyn.

"MISS ANNIE DUNN, WHO LEFT IN JULY TO ATTEND THE TEACHERS CONVENTION IN WINNIPEG, IS AT PRESENT TEACHING AT SHOAL LAKE, MANNITOBA. SHE FINDS THAT TEACHING IN THAT PART OF THE DOMINION IS MORE COMPENSATING THAN IN QUEBEC. SHE WRITES THAT THE COMMISSIONERS NEED A NUMBER OF FIRST CLASS TEACHERS. SHE RECEIVED THE OFFER OF A NUMBER OF SCHOOLS OUT OF WHICH SHE PREFERRED - THE CULROSS AND IS RECEIVING A FINE SALARY. As mentioned last year, Francis Dunn died in 1906. His obituary provides the greatest detail of the Dunn history. More than that, it reflects the enormous strength of character of many of our ancestors. Henry Ingram has been mentioned in conjunction with all the "3M" families.

"DIED - DUNN - AT ST JOACHIM DE SHEFFORD, ON THE 24TH OCTOBER, MR FRANCIS DUNN, AGED 81 YEARS, 7 MONTHS, 18 DAYS."

Annie Dunn Horan returned to Shefford in early1910 and was honored at a reception by her brother John. Shortly thereafter John put his farm up for sale. Since John was the eldest of Peter's sons, this may have been the original Peter Dunn farm.

The past few issues have tried to follow the Mahedy-Mckay-Moran clans from the 1850s through to the early 20th century based on news reports contained in Shefford Co. newspapers, primarily the Waterloo advertiser. Hopefully, use of the actual news published has helped add to the flavor of the time and place in which they lived. It is difficult to summarize almost a century of events for all these families. Still, some common threads beyond the obvious blood ties do seem to emerge. These were all Irish immigrants in a new land. As such, they were a minority. They were all Large families who displayed a devotion to the land, and to a strong education for the young. Likewise, they displayed a strong commitment to church and community, as well as family. Was this unique to the Irish? Probably not. Finally, like the immigrants that have typified the history of the american continent, our ancestors rapidly filled the ranks of trades and professions, and spread across the continent.

HAYES, MRS JEAN R

RIVIERA BEA, FL -
MAR 1996
JEAN R HAYES DIED 1996. SHE WAS BORN IN SARATOGA, NY, DAUGHTER OF FREDERICK AND FRANCES MAUD MAHEDY RICHARDSON.

By now most readers are aware that I have been at this family history hunt for quite some time. I first learned of Jean in 1977 after spending a day in Saratoga. I had earlier stumbled quite inadvertently on William F Mahedy's name in an 1870's directory of Troy, NY. As I recall, he was listed as the chief of police in Saratoga. Will seemed to disappear between 1880-1900. His wife and children remained in Saratoga and I was able to follow them though Saratoga directories. I found his daughter married @ 1914 to Frederick Richardson and later found Jean at least to the early 1940's. Later I found Jean's mother's 1962 will listing Jean and her two sons, Kent and Barry Hayes. However, they were now no where to be found. I was somewhat side-tracked after that, and felt I had hit a brick wall anyway.

About a decade later, as I was trying to put together an early 3M, I became frustrated that all families disappeared. I got up enough nerve to call info for any Hayes in Saratoga and began to call. So what if I sound crazy. Some Mr Hayes did indeed know Jean and gave me her Florida address. I believe I called, but anyway, we made contact.

Jean had known her Grandmother Mahedy well, but knew little of the Mahedy line. Her grandfather, William F. Mahedy left town when his children were quite young. He had been Chief of Police and apparently became involved in a scandle forcing him to leave. He later served many years as a Pinkerton agent. Jean remembered him coming to Saratoga late in life. He was a large, heavy-set man, much like his own father.

Jean came north in June 1986 to her grandson's graduation from Saratoga. She also took time out with her husband Bill to make the two hour drive to visit Mike and I. We had a nice visit. I showed her my picture of Michael Mahedy, the Mahedy Bible, and anything else I could think of. Then Jean delicately pulled out this old letter she thought might be interesting. She was not sure how it was connected. 1864. It was written by her great-grandfather. Aa ancient family mystery was solved as the incredible adventures of John Mahedy, Jr, unfolded before my eyes.

We kept in touch over the years mainly through 3M and Christmas. I know I will miss her and wish to extend our "3M" family's deepest sympathy to Jean's son Kent of W Palm Bea, Fl, and her grand-sons Scott and Tim of Saratoga. Jean's contribution to the Mahedy history was truly monumental.

TOUSE, STEWART O. SYRACUSE, NY - 22FEB1997 STEWART OSCAR TOUSE DIED AT HIS HOME. STEWART WAS BORN 22 NOV1916 AT UTICA TO OSCAR PAUL AND MADGE BLISS TOUSE. HE WAS RAISED IN VERNON CENTER, NY. HE MARRIED @ 1938 TO EDITH MACKAY OF KENROSS, KY. AND SPENT MOST OF HIS ADULT LIFE IN SYRACUSE, NY. IN THE EARLY 1950s STEWART FORMED HIS OWN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY. FOR THE BETTER PART OF 30 YEARS HE BUILT HOMES, HOUSING AND APARTMENT COMPLEXES THROUGHOUT CENTRAL NY. STEWART IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE; TWO SONS: MALCOM AND REXFORD, A DAUGHTER PAMELA MEIL, ALL OF SYRACUSE; A SISTER, MRS NORMA CRANDALL OF E SYRACUSE, A BROTHER MARVYN OF MIN-ERAL CITY, OH, SIX GRAND-CHILDREN, SEVERAL GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN AND NEICES AND NEPHEWS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY.

While not a "3M" descendant, the "editor" exercised his perogative. After Uncle Stew established his business in the early 50s, he convinced my father to join him. He taught my father his trade and my father became a skilled artisan in his own right. So Uncle Stew was more than just our uncle, he helped provide the very livlihood that sustained our family to our maturity. Stew's own sons also joined the company. My father felt a special bond with them all. And virtually every Sunday "in season," after an 80 hour week my father was up and out by 6:30 in the morning to join his brother for a game of golf at Green Lakes.

Over the past few weeks I have been watching the PBS series "ANCESTORS." Though it is essentially an introduction to the pursuit of genealogy, I have been moved by several episodes of people telling how and why they became involved, and more dramatically, how they have been affected. In many ways the series has been a re-affirmation of much of what I have said and tried to do. Genealogy should be much more than a collection of names and dates of biological predecessors. It should literally be the story of one's family. It should enable the reader to come to know, as much as possible, those who have gone before and might otherwise never be known. It should help explain how those ancestors, aunts, uncles, and cousin of yesteryear helped make the family - indeed the world - what it is today. I have commented often in news- letter or personal correspondence how genealogy also helps to demonstrate how much more closely we are interrelated than we realize. Though Stewart was not a direct "3M" descendant, he shared Irish roots as deep as Brian Boru and Murphys. In the editor's family history, Uncle Stew merits his own chapter. He is truly missed by all the Touses.

GILLETT GAZETTE

BREAKTHROUGH

For years our Gillett history has been fixed at the birth of Ebenezer Gillett in 1792. I have offered speculation that Ebenezer was most likely the son of a Charles Gillett who resided in Oneida County in 1800. However there is still no documented proof. In the 1980's a marriage record was found for a Charles Gillett and Esther Hunter in Amenia, NY in 1787. That marriage date certainly made it possible for that Charles Gillett to be the father of Ebenezer. Furthering this suggestion was the fact that several of the early settlers in the Town of Western had come from Columbia and Dutchess County. Finally, Ebenezer named his second son and second daughter Charles and Esther respectively. Both names continued in the Mahedy and McKay families. I had also suggested that our Gillett line probably descended from the brothers Jonathan and Nathan Gillett who came to America on the ship "Mary and John" in 1630! How- ever, there was no evidence to support such speculation.

In September, thanks to the Internet, I found the direct line from Charles to the immigrant Jonathan Gillett, which takes our history back almost another 200 years! It is a fascinating history. I plan to begin presenting the narrative and additional documentation in the next issue. For now I will present our direct line

Our earliest documented ancestor is the Rev. William Gillett. William was born around 1574 in Devonshire, England. There is some indication his father was Jaquede Gyllet, but this needs further verification. William was installed as Rector at Chaffcombe, Somerset, England, 4 Feb 1610. He was probably married somewhat earlier, though his wife remains unknown. Rev William had at least three sons who migrated to the new world: Jonathan, Nathan and Jeremiah.

 I - Rev William Gillet 1574 - 1641 II Jonathan @ 1610 Chaffcombe, Som, Eng; d: 23 Aug 1677, Windsor, Ct; m 29Mar1634 Mary Dolbere 1607Colyton, Dev, Eng; d: 5 Jan 1686; III John- 5Oct1644, Windsor, Ct; d: 1682; m 8July1669 Mercy Barber, 12Oct1651, d:29Mar1725, Suffield, Conn; IV Samuel- 16Feb1678, Windsor; d:1739, Granville, Ma; m: 23Jan1702 Rebecca Bancroft, 23Feb1680, Springfield, Ma; V John G - 1732, Suffield, Ct; m 1755 Martha Dunham; res 1790 Mamakating, NY; VI Charles - @1765; m 1787 Esther Hunter, Amenia, NY; Living, Oneida Co, 1810; VII Ebenezer- 1792, Oneida Co; d:20Feb1755, Twn of Western; m @ 1813 Elizabeth Keech, 1796 Washington Co, NY; d 11Nov1887; VIII Esther - 1821, Western, NY; d 1893, N Shefford, PQ, Can; m 7Mar1843, Rome, NY, Michael Mahedy 15Feb1815 Co Limerick, Ire; 14May 1895, Ava, NY at home of Esther Mahedy Butler;

Mary Bolbere's ancestry is traced back on several lines to the late 1400s !

Jonathan no doubt came to the new world to find a better life. He faced untold struggles in the new world, yet raised seven sons and three daughters, held public office, and became a respected man in his community. Then two years before he died his third son, 34 year old Joseph, was killed in a harsh battle at Bloody Brook, 18 Sept 1675. Eight months and one day later his fourth son Samuel, 33, was slain in battle at Turner's Falls, 19 May 1676. Jonathan died 23 Aug 1677. The following month, his former daughter-in- law, Hannah, widow of Samuel, was captured with two of her children by Indians and taken to Canada. Hannah's second husband finally rescued her in June 1678. Truly, this family sacrificed much to make a new world.

A PRAYER FOR MY SON

W.B YEATS
BID a strong ghost stand at the head That my Michael may sleep sound, Nor cry, nor turn in the bed Till his morning meal come round; And may departing twilight keep All dread afar till morning's back. That his mother may not lack her fill of sleep. Bid the ghost have sword in fist: Some there are, for I avow Such devilish things exist, Who have planned his murder, for they know Of some most haughty deed or thought That waits upon his future days, And would through hatred of the bays Bring that to nought. Though You can fashion everything From nothing every day, and teach The morning stars to sing, You have lacked articulate speech To tell Your simplest want, and known, Wailing upon a woman's knee, All of that worst ignominy Of flesh and bone; And when through all the town there ran The servants of Your enemy, A woman and a man, Unless the Holy Writings lie, Hurried through the smooth and rough And through the fertile and waste, protecting, till the danger past, With human love.

RECIPE

Every year I try to include an authentic recipe of Irish cuisine. Readers have also probably noticed prior announcements of: "O'Touses Annual Unattended St Patty's Day Festival. Indeed, the 17th Annual will be held 15-17Mar. Saturday will be guest-hosted by No 1 son, Brian Shawn O'Touse.

Over the years several regulars have constantly inquired as to the ingredients of the festival stew - Why I'll never know! Some have offerred bribes; others threaten bodily harm. Finally, last year I made a major concession. Having gone public, I feel compelled to now share the truth with the "3M" family..

IRISH STEW

Irish stew is as Ancient as the ol' Sod itself. The Warrior Gaels of the prechristian era appear to have perfected it on the march and in their battle camps. The earliest stews probably consisted of venison from the giant deer found in the wood while arching. No doubt they used whatever cattle they could forage and pilfer from their vic-tims. Whatever vegetation was found in the wild or in enemy camps and villages was then added. Of course this was all simmered in pure Irish spring water. [did ya' E'r notice the soap o' thot naime leaves ya' smellin' loike stew?]

Of course, if it were that simple, anyone could make irish stew. Obviously there is more to the secret. The Irish were a very spir-itual people long before st. Patrick blessed their soil. Warrior, poet, peasant and king all turned to the ancient Druid priests for guidance and solutions to their everyday problems, for the Druids could summon and even alter all the forces of nature. They performed all manner of miracle, only then it was called wizardry. They could even tranform man to animal. The warrior had to be fulfilled and sustained even when supplies were scarce. And so he turned to the Druid to embellish his stew. To make the stew tasty and so thick as to be fulfilling was no challenge to the Druids. They were more perceptive to the perils of battle than even their warrior-clients. For fierceness and prolonged energy the warrior would require intensified hormonal activity. He required increased perceptual and motor response to deflect sword and arrow. To prevent loss of life as well as energy his blood required super clotting power and tissue regeneration. The warrior must feel at one with life, yet with an anger to kill and so potions to affect mood would be required. The Druid was not unaware of the Irish passion for the juice of the barley, so the powers of the stew had to be enhanced rather than diminished by the brew. Thus it was that the ancient Druids concocted their packet of special herbs, spices, and Natural ingredients that has nourished both ancient and modern Gael all these eons.

The Irish stew evolved with Irish history and society. As they became more agrarian, domesticated cattle were substituted for wild game. Only the finest cattle and/or sheep were selected. They were fed the finest grains and grasses. After the choicest steaks and chops were trimmed, the best of the surloin was cut and treated. The best of carrots and peas and choice vegetables were added to the ever-pure Irish spring water. The ever renown potato - a gift of the native american - was not introduced to enhance the stew until the 16th century. All the ingredients were combined and simmered with care for many hours. But it was still the ancient packet of Druid ingredients that made this stew the unique culinary creation it is.

The Druid culture of the ancient Irish has long since vanished for all outward appearance. That is not To say they no longer exist. Like De Danaan of old, they have gone underground. Tis not generally known, but me own sainted mother is a true descendant of an ancient Irish Druid Princess and has been invested with all the secrets of our ancient past. That is no small burden. For to divulge these mystic truths to an "outsider" would risk the rath of the modern world order. Worse yet, it would loose all the ancient spirits and demons who would punish her and wreck havoc in contemporary society. It is only with the aid of Manhattans - an ancient Irish concoction-that she is able to maintain her guard over the best kept secrets of the universe. Having been blessed with the same genes, as a very young lad I once tricked her into relating the special ingredients to me, but am forever bound to protect both her and meself - but can safely pass along that which follows:

O`TOUSE'S CLASSIC IRISH STEW [FAMOUS SINCE 1981] 3-5 lbs CHOICE BEEF OR LAMB [PREFERRABLY DEAD] CUBE, SPICE, MARINATE 4-5 BOTTLES, HARP OR STOUT 2-3 ONIONS - CHOPPED, SLICED OR DICED 1 CUP IRISH CREAM 6-8 CARROTS - IBID 2-3 CUPS STRONG COFFEE 22 PEAS 1 TAPED IRISH JIG MUSIC 10 lbs SMALL POTATOES 1 TAPED IRISH WAR MUSIC 4-6 CUPS - IRISH SPRING WATER 1 TAPED IRISH TRAGIC TUNE OTHER VEG FAVORITES PREFERRED SPICES 1 - PACKET DRUID MIX
---

Assemble all ingredients; select tape to best put you in an Irish frame of mind. Since barley is a principle thickening agent, begin consumption of first stout. Select suitable size pot or cauldron and rinse gently with Harp. Drain. Combine all ingredients in pot and place over low to medium flame. Simmer through one tape. Stir. Next, play Irish jig music and dance a jig near the stove. Consume second Stout and revel in Irish dance music. Stir stew three times. To maintain balance and control, now have a strong coffee with a spash of Irish cream. [add whiskey if desired]. Insert Irish war music and consume Stout #3. Now that you've gone this far, you might as well stir the stew some more, open one more Stout, play one more tape and sing along. After simmering - the stew silly - many more hours, or after you wake up - which ever happens first, prepare another coffee and remove stew from heat. If the party is not yet ready you may store it in a freezer for up to a month. Just before company arrives throw some in a crock pot turned on high so they will think it is fresh. Enjoy.

SOME FINAL NOTES...

READ MORE ABOUT IT:

There are a good many books being generated in Irish art, history, literature and culture, both old and new. I should do more to present these works. Santa left me two works that certainly merit consideration.

ANGELA'S ASHES - Frank McCourt.

This is a personal memoir of the author's. McCourt was born in NYC in post WWI America to Irish immigrant parents. After enduring American poverty and tragedy a few years they return to Angela's home town of Limerick. We in the U.S. tend to think poverty and misery ended in Ireland with the end of the famine years. Far from it. Limerick for many was a living hell in the depression. Added to the economic troubles, McCourt's father was a chronic alcoholic.

I do not wish to scare you off. ANGELA'S ASHES is certainly an eye-opener. But it is done with such warmth and humor, you often want to laugh and cry in the same sentence. Irish history, religion and custom meet modernity with all its promise and failure. You can not read this book with out being touched.

HOW THE IRISH SAVED CIVILIZATION - Thomas Cahill

One of the earliest "3M"s mentioned that throughout the "Dark Ages" of western civilization, it was the Irish monks and scholars, more than any other group, who were responsible for preserv-ing the accumulated knowledge of civilization. Like G.E., they "kept the light on" as the various barbarian tribes invaded and overthrew the Roman civilization that was Europe.

This book may not appeal to everyone, but for the lover of history or things Irish, it is a must. Cahill gives great depth to the civilization that was lost; the conditions leading to it's demise; the unlikely primitive culture which saved civilization; and how it all transpired.

Cahill begins with St Augustine and works back through Plato and Socrates of Greece, and Virgil and Cicero of Rome, tracing the flow of civilization with facility. He recounts our oft told tale of Cu Chulain to help distinguish the Irish from the "civilized" world. We learn much more of Patrick only to realize we know little. Cahill makes a sound case for calling Patrick the first true missionary bishop of Christianity. Even for all St Paul's missions, exceeding the apostles', none ever went beyond the known civilized world to spread the Gospel. Patrick did. He returned to a land where he had been enslaved; a land beyond the universal Latin tongue or Roman rule of law. More importantly, he showed a genuine love for those he sought to convert, not as subjects to the gospel, but as elements of humanity. It was the monks Patrick educated who trained monks in Ireland and Celtic Britain who combed the continent transcribing and even transporting the great books of knowledge lest before they could be destroyed by the barbarians. By the time of Charlemagne, it was Irish monks or their Irish educated Saxon cousins who ran all the major monasteries on the continent. It is all history worth knowing. -----

Well, a year has passed and as I prepare to enter the print command I find myself again awaiting the Annual Unattended St Patty's Day Festival. We know who is President now, yet the debate rages on. That's a different editorial...We have learned a little more of our family - new and old - and have had our losses.

Thanks to the generosity of others, I have acquired a new computer and programs that facilitate recording family his-tory and have hopefully enhanced the appearance of "3M" - if not the "editorial style." Hopefully both research and appearance will improve

A special "Thanks" goes to son Brian & family and Janice, who gave me a scanner for Christmas. This has enabled me to incorporate photos into the newsletter. More importantly, it allows me to import photos to attach to the genealogical records. Thus, when I select Michael Mahedy's record his photo is present. If I select his family record, it shows existing photos of his wife and children. In addition, I can create "scrapbooks" showing additional family photos, the family farm, records...anything.

This whole process is quite amazing. By and large, these photos end up better than the original, showing great depth and detail. You feel you are looking into the eye of these ancestors. Print does not do them justice. You can set albums up as "slide shows," with many photos filling the screen. If I could find a way, I would take this show on the road - really!

I have probably scanned @200 pictures into various family files. I have been reluctant to explicitly request to borrow family pictures in the past. To reproduce them, I would have to take or mail them to commercial developers. In the past the cost for a single reproduction has ranged from $6 -12. Beyond that, I had to let them out of my control and risk loss or destruction. Now I can do them freely without letting them out of my "office." So, if you have any treasured photos you would like included in your genealogical files, or future issues of "3M," please know they will be processed and returned promptly and carefully. Once computerized, these images can never deteriorate due to light, chemicals from the color, or just natural environmental deterioration. Or, if you have family, friends, or others who can computerize them locally they could send the photos via "email" or "floppy disk."

I plan to begin including those on hand in coming issues of "3M." If I can overcome my techno-ignorance, I hope to create a "website" on the world wide web. If successful, this site will contain both genealogy and photos. Family or researchers could sign on to the site and "download" any information I have available. They could also submit new data, corrections, or send messages.
