d. before 1715

Little (if anything) is known about John Surplus other than the fact that Elizabeth seems to have made a career out of witnessing deeds between 1703 and 1713. No mention of John is found in the records and they don't appear to have owned property and he didn't leave enough of an estate to go through probate. They don't appear in the New Hampshire records either.

Elizabeth Surplice witnessed a deed from Jane Godsoe of Kittery, relict of Thomas Withers, to William Pepperrell on 10 Jan. 1703/4.(10) On 7 Oct. 1705 Elizabeth witnessed a deed from John Shepard Sr. of Kittery to his son John Jr.(8) She also witnessed the deed from John Jr. to Samuel Spinney on 16 Apr. 1706.(9) She witnessed a deed on 29 Dec. 1705 from Thomas Rice Jr. of Kittery to his father Thomas Sr.(7) On 12 Jan. 1708/9 Elizabeth witnessed the deeds for the land swap between Richard Rogers of Kittery and John Fernald as well as the deed from John to his brother James Fernald.(11) Elizabeth witnessed a deed on 10 June 1710 from Richard Gowell of Kittery to his son Richard.(5) On 2 Nov. 1713 Eliza Surplice witnessed a deed from Joseph Wilson of Kittery to John Shepard.(2) After this time Elizabeth witnessed deeds as Elizabeth Godsoe. She must have married William shortly after she witnessed the deed in Nov. 1713 as her son John Godsoe, was born in Oct. 1714. On 7 Nov. 1724 William Godsoe gave land to "my son-in-law John Marr and Catherine his wife."(13) On 22 May 1731 William deeded property to his son John to take possession "immediate after the decease of me the sd William Godsoe & my wife Elizabeth Godsoe his Mother". It was witnessed by Elizabeth's daughter Katherine Marr.(12) William died shortly thereafter as the administration of his estate was 25 Oct. 1731. Elizabeth was last mentioned in a deed dated 6 Apr. 1745.(14)

Katherine Surplis witness a deed on 30 Mar. 1717 from Daniel Paul of Kittery to James Fernald.(6) She witnessed a deed from William Beall of York to Francis and Abishag Carrman on 8 Nov. 1717. This was also witnessed by her mother Elizabeth Godsoe and her father-in-law William Godsoe.(1) They also witnessed the deed from William Beal to his son William on the same date.(4) Katherine witnessed another deed on 13 Feb. 1718/9 from Jacob Remick of Kittery to his son Samuel.(3)
