Thomas J. Campbell
Dies in Home of Sister

Thomas Jacob, son of John and Agnes (Mort) Campbell, was born Aug. 17, 1874, in Hancock township, Hancock County, Illinois, and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ida Conn, near Tennessee, June 12, 1939.

August 30, 1913, he was united in marriage to Inez Burrow, who survives with the following children: Bernard and Cleo of near Fountain Green; Era Long, of Beloit, Wis.; Okle Browning of near LaHarpe, Ill.; Dee, Daren, Erice, Larry and Galen at home. There are three grandchildren, Bernard and Leonard Long and Bobby Campbell.

The following brothers and sister are left to mourn his passing: J. W. Campbell of Leedy, Okla; Mrs. Agnes White, Port Gamble, Wash.; Mrs. Fannie Shipley*, Macomb; Charlie Campbell of Carthage; Mrs. Ida Conn, Tennessee; Mrs. Erma Golf* and Thurman of Colchester.  The one and only surviving aunt, Mrs. Fannie White of Macomb, also a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

During the early part of January he suffered a paralytic stroke which rendered him almost helpless. It was during this time of invalidism that he accepted Jesus as his Savior and expressed a desire to be baptized and units with the Majorville church.

He was a hard working man, a sacrificing father and a good neighbor, never too busy to lend a helping hand.

Tom was by nature optimistic, jovial, generous and kind.  Out of respect to his elders he usually addressed them as aunt or uncle.

As he is laid to rest near those who held him dear, may all tha was brightest and best in his life remain in our memories as the years come and go.

Funeral services were held at Majorville church, June 13, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. W. H. Gillis officiating burial in Majorville cemetery.
