Carthage Gazette, December 31, 1943

Lawrence Day and sister, Rubie Hobart have gone to Arnold, Kansas, where their brother, Charley and his wife were killed Wednesday in a train accident.  They were starting home this Tuesday with the bodies, which will be interred in Majorville Cemetery.

Bessie's remains were brought to Illinois for burial, but her family chose to have her buried somewhere other than Majorville Cemetery.  In a second obituary, transcribed below, she was named as Bessie Bennett.  She and Charles were said to have married June 19, 1925, although in the 1930 census, her surname was shown as Small, rather than Little (as stated in the obituary at left) or Day.
