Abraham Ebert was born July 18, 1846, in Pennsylvania, the son of Philip Ebert and Mary A. Slaybaugh.

In 1840 the family of Philip Ebert was enumerated in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.  By 1850 they had made the trek west to Hancock County, Illinois.

Abraham married Margaret E. Callihan on April 30, 1874.  Marriage License

Margaret was born July 17, 1855, in or near Webster, Fountain Green Township, Hancock County, to Jacob Callihan and Mary Keith, both originally from Pennsylvania.

Abraham died January 18, 1896, and was buried at Majorville Cemetery.

Margaret lived on for another 41 years.  She died at Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, on March 15, 1937, and was buried at Majorville alongside Abraham.  Obituaries

The children of Abraham and Margaret were probably all born in Hancock Township, Hancock County, Illinois.  They were:

i. James Oscar Ebert, born March 24, 1875, died September 8, 1941, in Prairie Township, Hancock County.  Burial location undetermined.
 
ii. Mary Edith Ebert, born August 2, 1876, in or near Joetta, Hancock Township.  She died January 11, 1950, at Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois, interment at Majorville Cemetery.
 
iii. George W. Ebert, born August 28, 1878.  He died August 9, 1903, burial at Majorville Cemetery.
 
iv. Grace D. Ebert, born about August 1881.  She died after January 11, 1950.
 
v. Floyd Elwood Ebert, born October 2, 1883.  He died December 30, 1858, burial at Majorville Cemetery.
 
vi. Verda Ebert, born about October 1888.  She died after January 11, 1950.
 
vii. Gladys I. Ebert, born about March 1895.  She died after January 11, 1950.
