Above, an illustration of the townships and towns in the lower 3/5 of Phillips County, Kansas.  The illustration is not to scale: these townships are six miles by six miles square.  The town of Marvin was renamed to Glade in 1908.  The name looked so much like Marion that mail was frequently delivered to the wrong town.

Oh my, oh my, oh my.  What stories we could set straight, what mysteries we could unravel, if only the 1890 Federal Census had not been almost totally lost to fire.  What we do know from the 1895 Kansas State Census is that C.Z. was farming in Rushville Township.  In that era farm wives did not rush into town to have their babies. Eva's obituary reported she was born at Glade but there's no evidence that C.Z. and Sarah Jane ever lived in Glade or even Solomon Township.  It's most likely that the youngest Parker children were born on the family farm in Rushville Township.

The only original document found thus far containing Jessie's middle name is the Selective Service registration of Francis Bevans.  He spelled it Rebecka, but then he also spelled her given name as Jesse.  While it is not proof of the correct spelling of Jessie's middle name, she was surely named for her paternal grandmother, whose name was pretty consistently spelled Rebecca from cradle to grave.

When Elmer Haney registered for Selective Service in 1918, his date of birth was reported at September 14, 1883.  Social Security records indicate September 14, 1882.
