Willis M. Beckwith [sic] was born Feb. 23, 1856, died May 29, 1891, aged 35 years, 3 months, 6 days. Willie had been a sufferer from chronic rheumatism for over 20 years, and for the past 5 or 6 years had been totally blind and helpless.  A better, kinder boy never lived or died than Willie Beckwith.  All that loving parents could do was done for him, and sad and lonely will be the home from whence he was taken.  Deprived of the use of his limbs, he found comfort in friendship, in listing to reading, in music, playing a harp arranged for his poor cripple hands, till almost the last day of his life. He delighted in the songs of birds and the prattle of little children.  Always interested in the welfare of others, anxious to avoid giving trouble, and grateful for attentions he endeared himself to all who knew him.  Truly "being dead he yet speaketh."  Funeral services largely attended at the church here, conducted by Rev. Bruce, who spoke from the language fround in the 2d Sam. 1, 2:23, "I shall go to him, ~ ~ ~ he shall not return to me."  After which the remains were placed beside those of his beloved sister, in the Webster cemetery.

Dear Willie, though at home we sadly miss thee,
From needed rest we would not wake thee up,
Or, selfishly, because we would be with thee,
Press, once more, to thy lips life's bitter cup.

But even as our eyes with tears are glistening,
A trembling hope within our souls as birth
That even now thy spirit may be listening
To sweeter music than is heard on earth.

Mother

The friends wish to express their gratitude for all the sympathy and assistance so generously accorded, especially to those who prepare the lovely floral offerings with which the casket was covered, and to the choir which sang those beautiful songs.
