Last Rites Held at Webster Sunday
for Mrs. Goldie Booz

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon in the Webster church for Mrs. Goldie Mae Booz, 62, who passed away in Memorial hospital in Carthage on Friday morning, July 29, 1955 at 9:13 a. m. The Kilgore Memorial Home was in charge of the funeral and burial in the Yetter cemetery at Webster*.  Rev. Leland R. Beck of the Carthage Christian church officiated, and the pall bearers were Albert Barr, Burton Ruggles, Arthur Spangler, Charles Spangler, Joe Lenix and Chester Callihan.

Mrs. Booz, daughter of Martin and Mary (Mosley) Yetter, was born May 27, 1893 at Webster, and was 62 years, two months and two days of age at the time of her death.

She spent her entire life in the Webster community, attending school at Pennsylvania.  She was a member of the Webster church.

On November 17, 1915 she was united in marriage with Frank Booz at Carthage, who with the following relatives mourn her passing: three sons, William Booz of Burlington, Iowa; Joel Booz of Hollywood, California; and Guy Kimbrough of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Marietta Stotlar, of Pendleton, Oregon, Mrs. Alberta Louth of Milan, Illinois, and a step-son, Kenneth Booz of San Diego, california.  One sister, Mrs. Pearl Reed of Carthage, a brother, Fred Yetter of Carthage, and a half-brother, Otis Yetter of Webster, also survive.  There are also 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Lee Booz, a daughter, Helen Shipman, who died July 3, 1955, a brother Bert Yetter, a sister, Vernice Harman and a half-brother, William Yetter.

Mrs. Booz was a kind and dutiful wife and mother, ministering faithfully to the needs of her household.

Goldie's obituary is from the files of the LaHarpe Historical & Genealogical Society, hand-dated Aug. 3, 1955.  Frank's obituary is from the collection of Okle Campbell Browning.

*Yetter Cemetery is in Hancock Township, south and east of Webster, which is in Fountain Green Township.

Rather than being born "at Webster", it's far more likely that Goldie was born at the family home in Hancock Township.  See: Martin W. Yetter & Mary E. Mosley Brown.

Goldie was first married in December of 1911 to Guy L. Kimbrough, son of Asa M. Kimbrough and Alice Womack.  Goldie and Guy later parted company.  He was born January 18, 1893, in Blaine County, Idaho, in or near Bellevue.  He died by drowning in the spring of 1918, in or near Weiser, Idaho.  Their son was:

i. Guy Roland Kimbrough, born July 10, 1912, in or near Webster, Hancock County.  He died in January of 1991 at Colorado Springs, Colorado, burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in that city.

Frank Kellogg Booz was the youngest of the eight children born to Joel Thacker Booz and Marietta B. Martin.  He was a student at Woodville School near Joetta during the 1900-1901 and 1901-1902 school terms.

Frank married Willa D. Lane (daughter of William A. Lane and Rosana M. Mosley) about 1905; this marriage ended in divorce.
Their son was:

i. Kenneth L. Booz, born about 1906 probably in Hancock Township.  He died after July 29, 1955.

Frank and Goldie became the parents six children, all born in Hancock County. Although both obituaries state that Frank and Goldie spent their entire lives in the Webster area, they were enumerated in Pilot Grove Township in 1920.  Their children were:

i. Alberta Booz, born about 1917.

ii. Marietta Booz, born about 1919.

iii. Helen Booz, born about 1923.  Helen Booz Shipman died July 3, 1955.

iv. William Booz, born about 1924.

From the Carthage Republican, April 22, 1931: We are sorry to hear of the awful accident that happened to deer little Billie Booz last Saturday p.m. He had taken off his shoes to run barefoot for the first time this spring, and had gone to the home of grandpa Yetter.  In running from the hen yard to the house, he stepped on a board and his foot struck a strong splinter, which penetrated the ball of the right foot to such a depth, that nothing that his own people could do would remove the splinter, so he was rushed to Dr. Bouseman at Fountain Green, who succeeded in extricating it after a painful siege.  He is getting along as well as can be expected, and we all hope will not suffer any bad results....CHAT.

From the Carthage Republican July 9, 1942:

WILLIAM BOOZ of WEBSTER JOINS NAVY

Great Lakes, Illinois--Joining the many other 'fighting' men with America's armed forces from Webster, Illinois, William Booz, eighteen, son of Mrs. Frank Booz, was received at the U. S. Naval Training Station here last week to begin recruit training.  During this training, the new recruit will be given an aptitude test to determine whether he will be given further specialized training at one of the Navy's many service schools, or assigned to active duty at sea or some other naval station.
