Joel M. Booz

Joel M. Booz is another son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Booz of Webster who now reside in Burlington.  He was called into service and has been serving in the United States navy since January 18, 1944.  He took his boot training at Farragut, Idaho, and was then sent to Treasure Island, Calif.  At the present time he is stationed somewhere in the South Pacific.

He was graduated from the Fountain Green and LaHarpe high schools. His complete address cannot be published but it part it is: Joel M. Booz, c/o Fleet Post Office, San Francisco, Calif.

LaHARPE - Joel M. Booz, 65, of La Harpe died at 12:18 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 1991 in the St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 7, 1925 in Webster to Frank and Goldie (Yetter) Booz.

Suvivors include one brother, William of Burlington; one sister, Marietta Walker of La Harpe and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He served in the navy during World War II.  He worked for the Bank of California and Bank of America in Los Angeles for a total of 35 years.  He moved to LaHarpe after retiring in 1987.  In 1988, he was honored as the Grand Marshall for the La Harpe Christmas Parade.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with the Rev. Dan Weinrich officiating.  Burial with military rites will be at Yetter Cemetery near Webster.

Friends may call anytime after 1 p.m. Friday where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established.
