DENISON BORN MAY 13, 1833 DIED AUG. 8, 1889 epitaph |
Author - Marcia Farina |
William Denison was born in Pennsylvania, the son of John B. Denison and Leah Hykus. According to the obituary of William's brother, Huff, the family left Pennsylvania in 1849, stayed a brief time in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, then moved to Hancock County.
Mary E. Lenix, daughter of James Lenix and Mary Elizabeth Albright, was born about 1849, probably in Hancock County, Illinois, perhaps in the area later named Hancock Township. Hancock County marriage license #4097 was issued on April 10, 1872, to William Denison and Miss Mary E. Lenox. They were married on the 11th by D. C. Martin, Minister of the Gospel. Marriage License Mary died before June 1, 1880; her inscription has almost weathered away. As of June 1, 1880, William was counted in his parents' household. He died August 8, 1889. Both are buried at Yetter Cemetery. |
