OBITUARY

WEBSTER--Eliza Olinger was born the 29th of April, 1838, in Shenandoah County, Virginia, departed this life the 9th of April, 1903, aged sixty-one years, eleven months and eleven days.  Was married to Levi F. Meyers on the 28th of December 1853, who preceded her to unknown world thirty-four years ago. She entered into full communion with the Evangelical Lutheran church at the age of eleven.  With her husband she moved from Warren county in 1866, settling on the farm where she has since resided.  Six children were born to them.  One son died in infancy, the remaining five, William D., John G., Alpha A., Perry C., and Mrs. Sarah C. Pawson, were all with her during her recent illness and death.  There is also one sister living, Mrs. John Walters, of Missouri, and six grandchildren who mourn the loss of a kind indulgent mother and friend.  The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Salisbury, Sunday at 11 a.m. from the F. M. church this city; burial in the Yetter cemetery beside the remains of her mother....CHAT


The inscription on the gravemarker reads 64 Yrs. 11 Ms. 10 Ds., which does calculate to a birth date of April 29, 1838.  The epitaph is: We loved her in life, Let us not forget her in death.

The Myers children:

i. William D. Myers, born about 1855 in Virginia, died between December 8, 1934, and May 8, 1946.
 
ii. John G. Myers, born about 1857 in Illinois, died between December 8, 1934, and May 8, 1946.
 
iii. Alphas Alonzo Myers, born August 17, 1860, in Warren County, Illinois.  He died December 5, 1934, in Carthage Township, Hancock County, burial at Yetter Cemetery.
 
iv. Sarah C. Myers, born about 1864, died between December 8, 1934, and May 8, 1946.
 
v. Perry David Myers, born March 18, 1869, at the family home located seven miles northeast of Carthage.  He died May 8, 1946, at his home in Ferris, Hancock County.  Interment at Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage.
 
vi. Unnamed infant son
