The above inscriptions are each on one face of a marble shaft that also bears inscriptions for William Yetter and Mary M. Long, the children's parents. Presented above for ease of viewing the inscription, this shaft is actually leaning on another tombstone. Click on the picture to see the tombstone as it rests today.
There is also a marble slab for each child. According to the VanDine reading of this cemetery, the inscription on the slab for Etta gave her age at death as 7 years, 27 days. In obituaries for Mary Long Yetter and Mary Rowena Yetter Boston (sister), this daughter was named as Etta, while the name carved into the tombstones is Ettie. |
