Obituary.

Catharine Noel was born in Springfield, Pennsylvania, Jan. 12, 1814, died at Webster, Ill., Feb. 13, 1894; aged 80 years, 1 month and 1 day.  She was united in marriage to Martin Yetter on March 24, 1831.  Nine children came to bless this happy union; four children with the husband and father have preceded her to the spirit land.  The deceased are Mrs. Sarah Thompson, wife of Philander Thompson, of Page Center, Iowa, Mrs. Barbara Lenix, wife of Samuel Lenix, of Webster, Mrs. Eliza McElvain, of Alma, Kan.  One died in infancy.  The five who are living are Mrs. Mary McElvain, Mrs. Emmeline Kinney and M. W. Yetter, of Webster, Mrs. Smith Howd, of Burnside, and L. T. Yetter, of Ft. Green.

In the spring of 1835 Mrs. Yetter came with her husband to Hancock county, and settled a half mile south of Webster where she resided until her death.  At the age of fourteen she became a member of the M. E. church, and ever since has lived a devoted Christian life.  In her last illness she expressed her trustful faith in Jesus and said that she would soon be at home with her Heavenly Father.  As death drew near she sang her favorite hymn "Oh think of the home over there."  Shortly after her precious spirit went out to meet its God.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rowe, of Burnside, after which the remains were laid to rest in the family graveyard.

Besides the children she leaves an aged sister, Mrs. Eliza Thompson, of Payson, Ill., a half brother, Thomas McFall, of Qunicy, twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren, to mourn their loss.

Obituary.

Catherine Noel was born at Springfield, Pa., Jan. 12, 1814, died at Webster, Ill., Feb. 13, 1894. She was united in marriage to Martin Yetter March 31th [?], 1831.  Nine children came to bless this happy union; four with the loving father have preceded her to the better land.  Of the five who are living, Mrs. Mary McElvain, Mrs. Emeline Kinney and M. W. Yetter are residents of this place, Mrs. S. Howd of Burnside, L. T. Yetter of Ft. Green.  Those who have passed away are Johnny, who died at the age of 3 years; Mrs. Sarah E. Thompson, wife of Philander Thompson, died May 25, 1868; Mrs. Barbara Lenix, wife of Samuel Lenix, died Sept. 25, 1878, Mrs. Eliza McElvain died June 17, 1887.  The husband and father died March 10 [or 19], 1874.

In the spring of 1835 she came with her husband to Hancock county and settled about half a mile south of Webster, on the place where she died.  At the age of 14 she became a member of the M. E. Church and since then has lived a devoted christian.  Besides the children and other relatives she leaves twenty-seven grand children and twenty-one great grand children to mourn her loss.  She suffered many afflictions which she bore with christian fortitude.  In her last illness she expressed her faith in Jesus and said she would soon be at rest in her Father's house.  As she neared the river she joined in singing her favorite hymn, "O, think of that home over there," after which her precious spirit went out to meet her God.

A dear one from our home is gone.
  A voice we loved is still;
A place is vacant in our heart
  Which never can be filled.

Here sits the chair empty and still,
  Robbed of its Inmate dear;
Cover it up, t'was God's holy will,
  Mother was needed up there.

Gently now smoothe her silvery hair
  Over the dear old brow;
Tenderly fold the dear wrinkled hand;
  Mother may rest them now.

Darling mother, can it be true,
  Must we for ay_ now part;
By the help of Him we'll follow you
  To where no tears shall start.
Cox.

Contradicting the statement regarding where the Yetters settled in 1835 and lived thereafter, census records indicate they lived in Hancock Township for a number of years and later moved to Fountain Green Township.
