Society For Technical Communication

Rochester Chapter, October 2001 Meeting report:

At the October 9 meeting, 29 members and 14 guests saw
Professor Douglas Manchee of the Rochester Institute of
Technology present Digital Photography for Technical
Communicators. Professor Manchee discussed the best way
of scanning documents for display on the screen and for
printing. In response to a question, he observed that digital
cameras are still at the point and shoot stage of
development. We do not yet have the same control over the
digital camera that we have over the 35mm camera. To
maintain control, it is best to take photos with a 35mm
camera, scan them, and process them with one of many
professional software applications.
