32. Charles Henry Manship

Apprenticed at age 18 under Edward Needles, a neoclassical chair maker, in Baltimore.

In 1835 he left for New Orleans and worked for a sign-maker.

In 1836 he was attracted to the new public construction and settled in Jackson, Mississippi.  He worked on contracts for David Daley ( a craftsman from New England) and eventually married his daughter.

In 1839 he painted the Jackson City Theater.

He built the house at Fortification St. in Jackson.
He was commissioned to work on the State House, now the Old Capitol in Jackson.

Pardoned by President Andrew Johnson on August 5th, 1865.

Held a Golden (50th) Wedding Anniversary (and family reunion) on 12-12-1888.
