John Louis GREGA Jr. [Parents]

Mary Elizabeth Katherine WILSON [Parents] was born 20 Aug 1966 in Petaluma, Sonoma Co., CA. She died 26 Feb 1992 in Lake Park, Palm Beach Co., FL. Mary married John Louis GREGA Jr. on 29 May 1982 in Palm Beach Co., FL. The marriage ended in divorce.

Other marriages:
VANDYKE, Donald Edward

Mary was shot killed by a 16-year-old boy named Cassie Holness in Lake Park, FL while trying to use a pay phone less than a block away from her home.  Holness and Moses Anthony Craig Smith told Mary they wanted her car, but she tried to fight the boys off.  She didn't know they had stolen a handgun earlier. Holness pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.  Authorities originally sought the death penalty, but due to shift changes within the police department that took the investigating detectives out of their original assignments (and could have prejudiced the jury), the prosecutor allowed for a plea bargain.  Smith pleaded guilty to second degree murder and received a 20-year sentence.  Smith was released from prison and married Jicelia Gonzalez in 2005 in Palm Beach County, FL.

Mary was well liked by her peers.  She made friends easily and was said to have had many of them.  Mary was a big fan of country music, especially Garth Brooks.  One would often see her sporting her cowboy hat, boots and belt with her name imprinted on the back.  She enjoyed four-wheeling and considered herself a tomboy.  She was a petite blonde who attended Twin Lakes High School in Palm Beach County.  She had been on the track team in junior high and was a cheerleader as a youth.  She and her second husband enrolled in karate classes together.  When she grew up, she worked as a bank teller for a couple of years, then she was employed by Tire Kingdom at its distribution center and corporate office in Riviera Beach the last few years of her life.

Upon her death, she was survived by two sons.  According to court records, she had one son with her first husband, John, and one son with her second husband, Donald.  She stated her birthdate was August 20, 1965 on both marriage licenses, however that date would have only been three months after her brother, John L. Wilson II, was born.  In checking California birth records, she was actually born in 1966, which made her only 15 years old when she and John Grega married.  She was living in Palm Beach Gardens in early 1987 according to records.

They had the following children:

M i John Louis GREGA III
