This John Marker settled in Carroll County, MD, just south of Littlestown, where Mathias 1 died. "In 1770 about twenty-one families of Quakers and an equal number of Dunkers moved into this area [Somerset Co, PA] from Pipe Creek, Maryland.  Their leader was Benjamin Biggs from Double Pipe Creek, Maryland now Detour.  1774 Brothersvalley, Second Assessment shows twenty-one Families from Pipe Creek."   (Source: Two Centuries of Brothersvalley Chruch of the Brethern, Cooper, Austin H., 1962, p. 54)

1792 John's widow, Catherine sold part of his land with the proviso that she could remain in the house there and be provided with certain "necessaries".  The deed was delivered in 1798, and in the1798 tax list of Upper Catoctin & Toms Creek Hundreds, the grantee's name appeared as then owning 149 acres of the same land, "Benjamin's Good Luck".  No Markers show up in those 1798 tax lists, which tells me they had moved elsewhere.  This would now be part of Carroll County.
