William H Grayson

William Henry Grayson was the eldest son of Thomas Porter Grayson (Sr.) and Caroline White. He was born in 1864.
At the age of 16 in 1881 William was apprenticed to  Henry Roberts, "a chemist and dentist" in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Ten year's later the 1891 census lists William as a Chemist visiting Fairley Farm in Hertfordshire, the home of his future wife, Agnes Oyler.

William married Agnes Oyler (b. 1867) a daughter of George Benjamin Oyler in the summer of 1894

Agnes and Henry had two sons:
Although William's addess was Hertfordshire he had a chemist's shop at 93 Finsbury Pavement (Source: London, England, Freedom of the City Admission Papers, 1681-1930 Chemist and Druggist)

In 1901 William  is living with his wife Agnes and their two sons.

In the 1911 the census describes William's occupation as "pharmaceuticals and lodging". The family is living at 16 Mount Pleasants, Turners Hill, Waltham Cross, Cheshunt.  The two boys are aged 15 and 12.

William died in 1931 and Agnes in 1942

  • Kenneth Grayson was a dental Surgeon. He served in the Royal Flying Corp. Certificate 2760: Grayson, Jack Kenneth, Mount Pleasant, Turner’s Hill, Cheshunt, Herts. Born: 4th July 1895 at London Nationality: British Rank, Regiment, Profession: 2nd. Lieut. RFC Certificate taken on: Maurice Farman Biplane At: Military School Ruislip Date: 7th April 1916. He married Katherine Elworthy in 1922 and they had two daughters: Jean (b.1926); Hazel (b.1931).   Ken Grayson died in 1968.
  • Eric Grayson was an engineer. He married Laura Duckworth in 1925 in Didsbury, Lancashire. They had two sons: Peter (b. 1926, Manchester) and Barry (b. 1933, Leeds).  Eric Grayson died in 1975 in Leeds.
