The Children of
Caspar Hennebohle and Theresia Tillmann

Frank Hennebohle was born Franz Haver Henneböhl on September 30, 1856 to Casper Henneböhl and Theresia Tillmann in Rüthen near Büren in Westfalen, Germany.  On October 4, 1856 he was baptized by the Vicar Rüther in St. Nikolaus Catholic Church in Rüthen.

William Hennebohle was born Conrad Wilhelm Henneböl on November 6, 1858 to Caspar Henneböl and Theresia Tillmann in Rüthen near Büren in Westfalen, Germany.  On November 10, 1858 he was baptized by Rev. Föhrer in St. Nikolaus Catholic Church in Rüthen. [more]

Theresia Henneböhl was born July 25, 1861 to Caspar Henneböhl and Theresia Tillmann in Soest, Westfalen, Germany. She was baptized August 4, 1861 at St. Patrokoli Catholic Church in Soest. [more]

Sophia Henneböhl was born April 8, 1864 to Caspar Henneböhl and Theresia Tillmann in Soest, Westfalen, Germany. She was baptized April 14 in St. Patrokoli Catholic Church in Soest. Sophia died April 16, 1864 at 8 days of age and was buried April 19, 1864 in Soest. [more]

An unnamed Henneböle was stillborn to Caspar Henneböle and Theresia Tillmann on April 2, 1865 in or near Aplerbeck, Westfalen, Germany.  The event is found in the baptism records of the Evangelical Church in Aplerbeck where it is recorded as no baptism occuring, as well as the burial records for the same Evangelical Church where the burial is recorded as April 4, 1865. [more]

Elizabeth Hennebohle was born January 8, 1868 and baptized January 21, 1868 in the Catholic parish in Hörde (bei Dortmund) Westfalen according to the LDS European Vital Records CD set and the record should appear on FHL microfilm #0949796. This date creates a slight age difference (3 years) on the SS Amsterdamn passenger list. (perhaps children under 12 sailed free. [haha]) The microfilm containing this record has been ordered.   [more]

This birthdate for Elizabeth conflicts with that of the Elizabeth coming to America aboard the NASM Steamship Amsterdam sailing from Amsterdam, Holland to New York, USA in May of 1882 is the same family.  The family aboard the Amsterdam consists of Caspar Hennebohle age 53, William age 23 and Elisabeth age 11.  The age of the shipboard Caspar matches the March 6, 1829 birthdate of Caspar Hennebohle, father of Frank Hennebohle.  The age of the shipboard William matches the November 6, 1858 of William, the brother of Frank.  The lack of mother, Theresia Tillmann, agrees with the knowledge that Theresia Tillmann passed away in Germany.  The absence of Frank on board the ship agrees with the knowledge that Frank came to the US in 1880.  The absence of Theresa Hennebohle from the ship's passenger list can only be explained by the theory that she would have been of legal age by this time and may have previously come over to the states.  My theory, and it is only a theory, is that William had also been in the states by this time but he returned to Germany after his mother's death to bring his father and youngest sister back to the states.  (But this is just a minor mystery compared to other mysteries about William.)

Their Parents

Caspar Henneböhl was born to Thomas Henneböhl vulgo Schulte and Gertrud Krimpelmann in Barkhausen near Büren, Westfalen on March 6, 1829.  He was baptized March 8, 1829 in the parish of St. Birgitte Catholic Church, Weiberg, Westfalen. On July 21, 1855 he married Theresia Thielmann in St. Nikolaus Catholic Church in Rüthen, Westfalen.  [more]

vulgo Schulte is a reference to the "farm name" or "house name".  Such usage varies in context in different areas of Germany, but in the Barkhausen area, it appears to relate to lineage of the farm.  A good example of how this works is with the other Hennebohle family in Barkhausen, the vulgo Guhen family.  (Possibly and likely related, but prior to any available records)
  • 1761 Mar 21  death of Anna Maria Mengeringhausen, wife of Jodocus Hennebohl vulgo Guhen.
  • 1761 May 26  death of Jodocus Hennebohl vulgo Guhen
  • 1761 Jun 16 marriage of Dorothea Hennebohl filia desiti Guhen (daughter handing on Guhen?) and Mathias Wibbeken nunc Guhen (assuming the Guhen farm?)
  • 1776 Feb 28  death of Dorothea Hennebohl wife of Mathias Wibbeken
  • 1776 Apr 16 marriage of Mathias Wibbeken vulgo Guhen to Margaretha Wordenhoff.

Theresia Thielmann was born Theresia Maria Catharina Thielmann to Caspar Thielmann and Francisca Halberschmidt on December 28, 1829 in Rüthen, Westfalen.  On December 29, 1829 she was baptized in St. Nikolaus Catholic Church in Rüthen.
