The Family of
Theresia Hennebohle
(July 15, 1861 - c.1940)
of Pittsburgh, PA
Theresa Hennebohle was born July 25, 1861 and baptized August 4, 1861 at St. Patrokoli Catholic Church in Soest (near Dortmund), Westfalen to Kaspar Henneböhl and Theresia Tillmann.

Theresa came to the US about 1880-1882, perhaps about the same time her brother Frank was in Pittsburgh, PA (1880). Theresa married Jacob Schnippert and the family remained in Pittsburgh where there appears to be a variation in the spelling of the Hennebohle name.  Cathy Ryan, a descendant and researcher of the Schnippert/Hennebohle union found the spelling  H e n n e b o k l e  as the mother's maiden name on the marriage certificate of Schnippert/Hennebohle daughter, Anna.  This, by itself,  could be excused as a misreading of an "h" for a "k", but the spelling is nearly duplicated in an 1886 Pittsburgh City Directory for Caspar Hennebacle, tailor, presumed to be the father of Theresa.  Perhaps just a bit more guttural emphasis on the "oehl" sound.

Theresa and Jacob had the following children:

Jacob died February 2, 1934.
Theresa died April 17, 1940.

With the exception of the information pertaining to the birth of Theresa in Soest, just about all of the information on this page was provided to me courtesy of Cathy Ryan.
