• The burial register shows that he was 37 years old, of Presbyterian faith, and his address was Ross Island. Ross Island was the original name for South Townsville.

His cause of death was aneurism. An aneurysm is a bulging out of part of the wall of a blood vessel. It forms where the wall has weakened, often due to the build–up of plaque. It may also be an inherited condition or a complication of high blood pressure (hypertension).

Left untreated, aneurysms may tear or burst (a ruptured aneurysm). Ruptures are very painful events that cause massive internal bleeding and may result in permanent disability or death, depending on where the aneurysm is located. If an aneurysm bursts in the brain, it could cause a hemorrhagic stroke.



• The North Queensland Herald of Wednesday 12th February 1896, contained the following death notice for Kenneth:

DEATH

On the 7th inst., at his residence, Nelson-street, South Townsville, Kenneth McLean, aged 38 years.

Deeply regretted.
