• Sadly, little Myrtle died at the age of six years and five months, from what in those days was termed "Lockjaw", nowadays correctly referred to as Tetanus.

This photo is of Ruby, on of Myrtle's mother's cousins, and Myrtle's brother and sisters.

Little Gladys is standing, Gertrude is sitting, and baby Rees is on Ruby's knee.

Gladys was three years and ten months old; Gertrude was one year and eight months old; and baby Rees was eight months and five days old when little Myrtle died. Perhaps that is why Rees is in a dark gown? We can see, also, that each girl is wearing a dark ribboned bow on her dress.

• Myrtle was buried at the West End Pioneer Cemetery in Townsville.
