Grasston Union Cemetery, Grasston, Minnesota
Grasston Union Cemetery in Kanabec County is located about 1.02 miles southwest of Grasston, Minnesota, a small town with a popultion of 105 people, according to the 2000 census.
Kanabec County was organized in 1859, but was attached to Chisago County until 1871 and Pine County until 1881. Its first county seat was at Brunswick but was moved to Mora by poplar vote in 1882. The total white population according to the 1870 census was 53 and the Hersey, Staples and Hall's Stillwater lumber firm and leading timber operator, dominated the county's limited public business at that time. In the early 1870's an influx of homesteaders began into the southern part of the county which brought many changes, including a demand for a court house.
Grasston Union Cemetery is located near the 143rd Ave. & Queen St., north of Highwy 70. From Grasston take Pine Street west toward Rainbow St, continue on 143rd Ave., turn left on Queen St., the cemetery is on the right. Distance from Grasston to the cemetery is about 1.02 miles. map
