McCullough Church Road and Cemetery Sign

(We were not able to get a good photo of the road sign)
My great uncle William C. McCullough and his family migrated from Perry County, Illinois in about 1857 and settled in Benton Township, Dallas County, Missouri, near Buffalo.  In 1867 they moved to the White River area of Stone County, Williams township, where he homesteaded land and resided until his death on February 24, 1878.  The land for the cemetery and church were deeded by the McCullough family.  Land near Carr Lane, MO., homesteaded by William C. McCullough is still owned by descendants of Efton Chester McCullough.  Land near the McCullough Cemetery and Church and where the McCullough School was is now covered by Table Rock Lake.
We visited this cemetery and the surrounding area on August 18th & 19th, 2008 and took the photos shown here and on the next 3 pages. -- Sources:  Descendants of William C. McCullough by Edna Hazel McCullough Lowery, 1977; sites.rootsweb.com/mostone/photo/mccullough.htm
The McCullough Church and Cemetery are located in the southwest part of Stone County, Missouri, 4 miles east and 3 miles north of Carr Lane, Mo and 1/2 mile south of Highway H at the intersection of Highway H and McCullough Church Road.  The signs are back a little off the highway so you do not see them until you are almost at the intersection.
The pride the people have in this little church and cemetery is quite evident for they are both very well cared for.  Work days are frequently scheduled and people from all around the area arrive in their pickups and spend the day working.  They recently put a new roof on the church and installed new windows and are currently working towards increasing the size of the cemetery.
