Marriage*He married Anneken Hansen Bergen, daughter of Hans Hansen Bergen and Sarah Joris Rapalje, on 8 October 1662.2
Biography*A biographical sketch of Dirck Janse Hooglandt was written in the "Register in Alphabetical Order, of the Early Settlers of Kings County, Long Island, N.Y." in 1881.
Dirck Janse Hoogland, from Maarssenveen in the province of Utrecht, b. 1653; emigrated in 1657; m. 1st, Oct. 8,1662, Annetje Hansen Bergen (or Annetje Feddens) wid. of Jan Clercq; m. 2nd, prior to 1689, Elizabeth ---. On assment roll of Brooklyn of 1675, and ferryman. On assment rolls of Flatbush of 1676 and '83 and patent of 1685, as per Thompson's Long Island Took the oath of allegiance in Flatbush in 1687. Apl. 29, 1689, he sold 20 morgens at Bedford to Derick Cornellisen Hoogland of Staten Island, as per p. 145 of Lib. I. of Con. From a map on filed in the office of the Sec. of State at Albany, made by "Ja. Cortelyan, sworn surveyor," file Aug. 8, 1681, it appears that "Klyn Dirk," who was probably Dirk Janse Hoogland, owned a farm of 2 lots in Flatbush on the W. side of the "highway to the ferry," S. of "Pieter Lott's" and N. of "John Ditmarsen's," about 622 ft. in width and 7241 ft. English in length, containing upwards of 52 morgens, covering the farms as lately held by Henry S. Ditmars and of John Ditmars in his own right, or what they inherited from Abraham Ditmars their father. In 1677 there was a dispute between him and Pieter Lott about the boundary between their farms, which was finally settled by arbitration, as per pp. 39 and 53 of Lib. AA of Flatbush rec. Made his mark to documents.2
