Dougherty, 89, who lived for the last five years at St. Augustine’s Home for the elderly, 2358 N. Sheffield Av., died Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a long illness. Until he retired at age 68, he was a retired shipping director for the publishing firms of Rowe-Peterson when it was located in Evanston, and Scoot Foresman & Co. in Chicago. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Eischen; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
