1. Ethel Fattig Collection:      Marie Alice Fort was rather small with very light hair and darkbrown eyes. Harry Fort's sister Alice had taken over the job of nursemaid and stayed the time of Harold's birth and also of Maries. The nextto the baby was usually cared for by Grandma Fort and other Aunts"Tellie" and Fannie.      In summer of 1895 Alice had typhoid, the near neighbors the"Lewellyns" had two or three cases. Alice nursing Marie became sick andFay also, they moved Fay to grandma Forts for care, and Harry's sisterAlice took care of Alice and baby Marie.      The farm Harry had rented was sold so they had to move. He rentedland from Heisers but no house, so a small house was bought from Mr.Clovin and moved to a spot south east of his fathers' on the father'splace. A third room was added on the north side. Fay and Mabel went toWilliams or West Prairie school where all of Harry's family had gone.      Marie in spring 1910 was sick with cold and earache and developed amasetoid abscess. Dr. Lindley was able to scatter the poision and sherecovered without an operation, though she was thin and pale all summer.      In the fall of 1911 Marie started to High School at Kingston,boarded with Miss Buck. Marie graduated in the spring of 1914. Marietook teachers examinatin and taught a small country school at SpringValley, in the fall of 1914; in the summr of 1915 she went to school atMaryville, MO.      Marie taught the Williams School 1915-1916 and was obliged to giveup teaching and stay home, because of her health, being very anemic, soshe was home while the house was built.      Marie and Paul Burkett were married and went to live on the Burkettfarm near Cameron, MO. Marie loved to sew and made many of her Mother'sdresses.
