            Marital Status: Not married

 

            Henry Barnett Watson joined the AIF on 22nd August 1914. Private Watson H.B.  No.622 was in the 1st Battalion. He embarked at Sydney HMAT on A19 'AFRIC' on 18/101914

            He was 22 years and 5 months old when he joined, 5ft 7" tall, weighed 10st. 8lbs, chest measurement 34/36". His complexion was fair, eyes blue and he had fair hair. He had a scar over his left wrist.

            He died of injuries received in action at Gallipoli, being a gunshot wound to the head. Henry was wounded in action  while fighting at Dardavelles  in  WW1 in the period 25/30th April 1915. He died in the 15th General Hospital at Alexandria on 30th May 1915. He was buried on 31st May 1915 at the Chatby war Memorial Cemetery Alexandria, Egypt, in grave No. 1008. His Mother was contacted later to let her know that the grave details had changed and it was now known as Plot L- Grave 141. Henry was buried by the Royal engineers.
