William Hiddleston (Bill) was born to Anthony Hiddleston
(Attie) and Anne McGraw Hiddleston (nee McKie)
He did most of his schooling in the Kirkcudbright area before the family
moved to the Edinburgh area of Scotland about 1954.
After leaving Secondary School he attended Technical College with a view
to training as a Civil Engineer. He realised this wasn't for him and he then
joined the first battalion of the Scots Guards from 1958 to 1961 and was
involved in the trooping of the colour and guarding Buckingham Palace and the
like.
After leaving the Army Bill joined the Edinburgh City Police which later
became Lothian and Borders Police, and moved through the ranks to become head of
Criminal Investigations, responsible for some 300 Detectives and 200 Civilian
Staff including Forensic Scientists etc.
He was also a member of the Williams association, an International Law
Enforcement Organisation of Homicide Investigators who are based at New York
State Police, Albany, USA.
He married Elizabeth Mary Paterson in 1962.
Since retiring Bill and Liz have done a lot of charity work for the
elderly, raising thousands of pounds to help run day centres etc.
They have travelled around the world to many places and will continue to
do so until they are unable to. Two places outstanding are Australia/New Zealand
and the Far East.

Elizabeth Mary Hiddleston (nee Paterson) is retired from work where she
was a Higher Executive Officer in the Civil Service.
Liz did her schooling at Duns in the border area of Scotland, before
leaving and moving with her family.
She worked in a shop for a while then for a Printing Company. She did
well in her latter employment being responsible for the training of School
Leavers and responsible for large contracts. Liz then joined the Civil service
where she was a Higher Executive.
She loves writing poetry and is very good at doing so.
Liz and Bill are both involved with charity work and have raised thousands of pounds for the elderly to help run day centres etc.
