Who are we?

The MCFR was created by Alexander David McMurtrie, a druggist, stamp collector and support of Boys Clubs, from Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. In 1938, as a man of 43, he began in earnest to write letters to public record offices and McM in the British Isles, North America, and Australia and New Zealand. The collection of family history that he began has grown, with the help of scores of family historians, to include information on McM families all over the world.

This site was created in August 2001. It is being maintained by Richard McMurtry of Ben Lomond, California and Samuel McMurtry of Meadowbank, New South Wales, Australia. You can contact Sam at: Sam McMurtry E-Mail: [email protected].

The MacMurtrie Clan Family Records (MCFR) are intended to help you find your family roots. They also give you an opportunity to preserve and to share with others what YOU have learned about YOUR family history. A few basic pages are open to anyone who visits this site. Other materials are available only if you make an information contribution - such as, your own family tree, some family history stories, some photos or the like.

The entire MCFR up through 1995 has been microfilmed and is available through the Mormon (LDS) Family History Centers and selected public libaries.
