In 1902 was witness to the marriage of sister Florence to Thomas Waller Cooke.
In 1905 was a witnesss, along with Elizabeth Caroline Herrington, to the marriage of his sister Edith to Thomas Sowerby.

Alfred died in 1952 and was buried at St John the Baptist Church, Eaglescliffe, Durham. The Monumental Inscription reads - In Loving Memory of ALFRED STANLEY DONKIN Died 4th Dec 1952 aged 69 years.
