Huntsville -Mrs. Marie Z. Smith,79, of Route 2 Ulen, Minn., died friday in the Madison County Hospital. She was born Oct. 7 1895 in Marion, S.D., the daughter of Theodore and Grace Vandermeer.
She is Survived by two sons, Evin of Ulen, Minn.,Marvin of Huntsville; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Hatledale of Hawley, Minn.: seven grandchildren and one Great grandchild.
Funeral service was conducted today at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home. The body will be return to Moorhead, Minn., for burial in Riverside Cemetery at Hawley, Minn.

Most census records indicated James was born in Iowa. His brothers and sisters were all born in Madison County,Arkansas. The reason James was born in Iowa is about 1854 "Old James" and Mary "Polly" Moved North to Iowa Because, some of Mary's kin settled in the Missouri River Valley, wrote them about the farm land there. After James "BUD" birth the Sioux uprising started so they moved back to Arkansas were there wasn't hostile Indian.

General Notes:
Louisa died in the flu epidemic of 1918. The family had gone to Sebastain County,Arkansas for work. Louisa was not felling well in the evening and the next Morning she fell over dead. (This information from Walter Sizemore of Tahlequah,OK., a descendent of John N. ) Louisa is buried in Sebastian County at the Yoestown Cemetery:Alma,Sebastian,Arkansas.
Walter also said the headstone was made by hand by her sons

Louisa married James Coleman /Sisemore/ about 1873. James was born on 9 Jan 1856 in Unkown, Mills, Iowa, USA and died on 28 Aug 1952 in Johnson, Washington, Arkansas, USA at age 96.

Burial Notes:
James Sr. died prior to 1900 census and Mary is living with her son James C and Louisa.
James Sr. is buried in the Ledbetter Cemetery and his grave has a fieldstone marker


Medical Notes:
James Sr. and Polly moved to Richland Township,Madison County,Arkansas from Harlan County,Kentucky in 1837, with Mary's "Polly" parents Bennett and Nancy Ball. By 1839 he bought property in Madison County. He is on the 1839 Madison County Tax List. They were the first Sisemore family in Madison County.

Civil War Veteran: According to a Union Pension Application, James Sr. served in a "home and property protection" unit of the Union Army known as Independent Mounted Rangers Arkansas Cavalry under a Capt. John W. Bivens. However, his application was refused on the grounds they could not find evidence of the Company or of his having served. He claimed to have been disabled by being vaccinated with a "spurious" vaccine that later caused him pain and his hands to shake so badly that he was unable to do his farming in his older age.
