Hormidas MEILLEUR

IN MEMORIAM

On March 06, 1928 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Manitoba. Hormidas Meilleur passed away after a lengthy illness, at the young age of 29, supported by a Christian resignation and patience. Hormidas was a former Corporal and Lance for the American Army, was and also a Corporal during WWI. Built to live a long life having a better than average physique. He was vigorous, active and of a jovial character. One is led to believe that it was by a “faux pas” that death involuntarily denied him life’s powerful force.

He was also a man of great piety: he was observed receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist often, also attended the Vespers and the hour of Adoration and almost every Sunday afternoon was seen doing the Way of he Cross.

He leaves to mourn him, his spouse Gracia Lavigne and his two young daughters, Alice and Alma. He had lost their first-born, Lucien Albert (at only 1 day old) in April of 1922. Also surviving him are many brothers and sisters and also his elderly mother.

The funeral service was held at the Sacred Heart Church in Fannystelle, Manitoba on March 10 among many friends and relatives. The pall bearers were Alfred Hamel, Clair Lavigne, Henry Lavigne, Eugène Coté, Armand Dureault and Arthur Régis. Mr. Eugène Painchaud, President of the Leaguers of which Mr. Meilleur was a member, carried the Sacred Heart banner. (Bannière du Sacré Coeur)

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery of Fannystelle, Manitoba.

All our sincere condolences to the family.

by Wilf Morin

Alice ARNAL
(nee MEILLEUR)
1923 - 2003

Born in Fannystelle, MB, on August 31, 1923, Alice passed away peacefully on June 19, 2003 at the Victoria Hospital after a lengthy illness. Alice will be sadly missed by her sons, Jacques (Karen), Aime, Guy (Barb), Ron (Maxine), Victor (Marsha) and her nine grandchildren, Brenden, Ashley, Andrew, Kimmy, Shawn, Michelle, Debbie, Joey and Jason; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Tyler.

Also surviving her, is her sister Alma Morin and husband Wilf and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1994 and by her son Wilfred in 1975.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all the staff of the 5th floor at the Victoria Hospital. A very special thank you to Dr. Karen Boyd for all her support, guidance and being a friend to my mom.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 23 at St. Vital Parish, 1649 Pembina Hwy., with Father Morand officiating. Interment will follow at Garry Memorial Cemetery with a "lunch" at Armadale Hollows, 1750 Pembina Hwy., east tower.

You can only have one mother, loving, kind and true. No other friend in all the world will be so true to you. For all her loving kindness, she asked nothing in return. If all the world deserted us, to our mother we could turn. For those of us who have a mother, treasure her with care, for you will never know her value, till you see she's not there. To hear her voice, to see her smile, to sit and talk with her a while, to be together in the same old way, would be our dearest wish today. "We will miss you Mom"
