Noella
Meilleur was born to Remi Bombardier and Laura (Begnoche) Bombardier on
Dec.14, 1926, in Swanton, Vt. Nellie married Euclide “Duke“ Meilleur on
June 7, 1947, and raised five children in Vermont before moving to
Tucson, Ariz., in 1974.
She
was a loving spouse for 54 years and a compassionate caretaker to Dad
in his final years. We, her children and our spouses, will forever reap
the benefits of the unconditional love we received from both Mom and
Dad. Noella was diagnosed with cancer soon after she moved with her son
Bob and his wife, Ruth, when they relocated to Corry last summer. Her
courageous battle with cancer ended May 8, 2003, when she died in the
comfort of her home in the arms of her family. Nellie is survived by
her children, Claire Bushnell, Rod, Paul (Melanie), and Norman
(Maureen) of Vermont, and Robert (Ruth) of Pennsylvania; grandchildren
Michael (Julie) Bushnell, Kellie, Amanda and Ross Meilleur, and Amber
Rose Meilleur; great-grandchildren Chelsea and Christopher Bushnell;
sisters Bertha (Real) Charlebois, Anita Blanchard, and Lee (Glenn)
Slason; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 12, in Christ the King Church on Locust Street in Burlington at
6:30 p.m. followed by a reception in the parish hall. Interment will take place in Arizona.

LAWRENCE “LARRY“ W. SAVOY
1916 - 2003
Lawrence “Larry“ W.
Savoy, 87, a longtime resident of Winooski, passed away peacefully
Saturday, March 8, 2003. Larry was born in South Burlington on Jan. 18,
1916, the son of the late John and Angelina (Brunelle) Savoy. He was
married to Leona Lavalley for over 60 years. She predeceased him in
1997.
Lawrence proudly served
in World War II, serving under Generals Patton and MacArthur. Larry
received many commendations and medals including the Purple Heart,
which he was very proud of. He was a member of the VFW, DAV and the
American Legion. He had many talents as an accomplished machinist,
tailor and upholsterer. He spent the majority of his life working as a
builder and was a very talented builder, carpenter, master electrician
and master plumber. He built many homes along with the Winooski
Library, which he was very proud of. He was a dedicated family man, who
enjoyed spending time with family and friends, family meals and time
reminiscing with family members.
Lawrence leaves two
special cousins, Mabel Kelley and her family, Nick and Maureen
Meilleur, with whom he resided and who cared for him for the past
several years. He is also survived by Kellie, Amanda and Ross Meilleur
whom he considered like grandchildren and with whom he enjoyed sharing
wonderful experiences, along with Bertha Osborne and her daughter Joyce
Richard and her family; a special longtime friend, Sonny Bissonnette
and his wife; and Louis Thabault and Dr. Wilfred Thabault. He is also
survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister
Anna Greenough and his brother Louis.
Lawrence touched the
lives of many people and will be greatly missed by all. Lawrence will
be missed by his special longtime friend and companion, Mitzi, who
brought him many hours of comfort, love and companionship. The family
of Mabel Kelley and Maureen Meilleur would like to thank the staff at
the Starr Farm Nursing Center, Dr. Tim Terrien, the Doctors and staff
at Green Mountain Urology, Colleen and the staff at the Veterans Clinic
in Colchester along with all the VNA nurses and aids who have cared for
Lawrence over the years; their care and help were always gratefully
appreciated.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 11, at 2 p.m. in Christ the
King Catholic Church in Burlington. Interment will follow in St.
Francis Xavier Cemetery in Winooski. There will be no visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting
Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446. On line
condolences may be forwarded to mkmeilleur @yahoo.com. Arrangements are
by LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski, Vt.

A Mass of Christian
Burial was celebrated Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. in Christ the
King Catholic Church in Burlington by the Rev. Roland Rivard with the
Rev. Mr. Louis Meunier, Deacon. The music was provided by Lois
Desautels, Nancy Greene and Eileen Bouvier. Interment followed in St.
Francis Xavier Cemetery in Winooski with Fr. Rivard offering committal
prayers. Bearers were Nick, Ross, Amanda and Kellie Meilleur. Full
military honors were accorded Mr. Savoy by the Vermont Air National
Guard. The American flag was presented to Mabel Kelley. Arrangements
were by the LaVigne Funeral Home, Winooski.
